6 Easy-Breezy Summer Drinks You Can Make At Home

It’s disturbingly hot, isn’t it? In this weather, all you want to do is sit back with a good book and a cool glass of lemonade. But look beyond the lemonade and try these 6 fancy yet surprisingly easy drinks (both cocktails and mocktails) you can make in minutes. You may want to thank us later, but for now belly up!

1. Honey Limeade
Best for:
Lunchtime. Pairs perfectly with salads and grills.

What you will need:
1 cup lime juice
2/3 cup sugar
5 cups water
2 tbsp honey

How to make it: Combine all the ingredients in a pitcher. Stir well until the sugar gets dissolved. Store in the refrigerator and serve chilled.

2. Strawberry Coconut Cream Soda
Best for:
Lazy afternoons

1/3 cups frozen strawberries
2/3 cups sugar
2 tbsp refrigerated coconut milk
1/2 or 2/3 cups soda

How to make it: Combine strawberries and sugar in a bowl and mix well. Transfer into a blender and make a coarse mixture of it.
Place the strawberries in tall glasses. Add ice, coconut milk and soda. Stir well.

3. Espresso Slush
Best for:
Coffee dates

What you will need:
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup instant espresso coffee
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 tbsp lemon zest

How to make it: In a medium-sized saucepan, combine sugar and six cups of water on high heat. Cook till the sugar dissolves. Then, remove from heat and add the espresso. Mix and let cool for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid in a shallow pan and add the lemon juice and zest. Now, place the pan in the freezer. Once frozen, crush the mixture with a fork. The mixture should be slushy, not firm. Serve into glasses or bowls and drizzle more zest, if needed.

4. Sparkling Orange Ginger Ale

Pool parties

What you will need:
1 can ginger ale
1 1/2 cup orange  juice
1/2 cup honey4-5 fresh,cut oranges

How to make it: Combine the ginger ale, orange juice and honey in a pitcher. Add ice cubes and serve. You can add 1/2 cup of light rum to make it a cocktail.

5. Tom Collins
Best for: 
Barbecue evenings

What you will need:
60ml gin
45ml lemon juice
2tbsp sugar
Lemon slices
A splash of soda

How to make it: Combine gin, sugar and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes and shake well till the sugar dissolves. Strain the liquid into a glass filled with crushed ice and add a couple of lemon slices. Lastly, add a splash of soda and stir.

6. Pineapple Watermelon Mojito
Best for: Boozy brunches

What you will need
1 lime, cut into wedges
30ml rum
2-3tbsp pineapple cubes
2-3tbsp watermelon cubes
1tbsp brown sugar
A handful of mint leaves
Club soda and pineapple juice to top the glass off

How to make it: Add the lime, pineapple and watermelon cubes, brown sugar and mint leaves to a mortar and pestle. Grind till the sugar has combined with the juices. Transfer to a glass, add the rum and top the glass with crushed ice and equal parts club soda and pineapple juice. Stir well before serving.
