6 Designers To Check Out At The India International Jewellery Week
India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) 2014 started today with some gorgeous pieces of bling on display. Now, we love almost every item showcased by brands and designers there; but we know that when it comes to jewellery, it is an investment as well as a fashion essential. So we picked out six designers and labels that have some fine collections at the event. Take a look.
1. Meeravali by Moni Agarwal
Bringing her Hyderabad culture with her, Moni has created jewels fit for royalty. Her collection, Meeravali, combines elements of Indian heritage like floral and paisley motifs in kundan and gemstones. However, her designs are light and created keeping the modern woman in mind, making them more wearer-friendly. We particularly like the traditional jewellery pieces that are just right for contemporary brides.
2. Aks Jewellery
The brainchild of designer Alka Kumar, Aks features contemporary jewellery with a touch of tradition. The right use of colour with diamonds and impeccable crafting of metal are the highlight of Aks jewellery. What we love, however, are the minimalist designs that are ideal for daily wear as well as for important occasions.
3. Apala by Sumit
Sumit Sawhney’s brand Apala presents ‘The Royal Tribe’ collection at IIJW—and each piece stays true to the name. There are elements of gold and diamond reflecting royalty, combined skilfully with rugged, tribal-style silver and precious stones. We adore the ethnic look of each piece of jewellery, which can be worn as a statement accessory. The collection is ideal for a boho, earthy look.
4. Jewels By Preeti
Preeti Jain is a qualified doctor, but her passion for jewels shows in each of her creations. Her collection is ideal for the woman on the go, who needs an opulent statement piece for her Western as well as Indian wear. You must take a look at the classic gold and diamond collection with a modern twist and the exclusive coloured stone pieces set amid white diamonds.
5. Dipti Amisha
Dipti and Amisha’s clothes have created waves in the designer circle, but it is their jewellery that has caught our attention. Their collection is a great combination of heavy, wedding wear pieces with a pop of colour to suit the contemporary woman. Check out their individual pieces for a light traditional or formal event. From dainty diamond jhumkas to chunky cocktail rings, we love it all.
6. Derewala Jewellery
This Jaipur-based brand usually offers a glimpse of the Pink City in its jewellery. But the current collection, Astitva, also has jewellery inspired by other cities across the country. The rustic feel of the brand’s jewellery makes these items a must-have for almost all traditional occasions. Don’t forget to take a look at their head and body jewellery as well.
Hope you’ve saved this list for the upcoming wedding season. Do write to us if you have something to say.
