Breads, breads all kinds of breads: buttery, fruity, nutty ones at that! is probably what you’d hum subconsciously when you enter the kitchen at The Baker’s Dozen. This neighbourhood bakery, as you’d probably have known by now, specialises in the making of the world’s finest breads, 15 varieties to be precise.
Aromas of the rising dough, enough to give you a whiff of a freshly baked slice, will allure you to try more than variety. Aditi, the head baker and Director of TBD tells us how it all began, main reason being the much needed attention to the quality and flavour of man’s daily bread at affordable prices!
Her breads are wheat based, rich in protiens (so much so that 2 slices have the same nutritious value as that of a cup of dal) and they come sans preservatives or chemicals. These crusty European breads are all eggless, except the brioche.
From wheat-based sandwich loafs to artisan breads such as the German Four Grain or the French Pain Au Levain with Blueberries and Cranberries, TBD’s menu comprises a huge list of sumptuous varieties of Focaccia, Puccia, Ciabatta, Croutons, Dinner Rolls and more.
The breads range from Rs. 25 onwards for half a loaf of a wheat-based sandwich to Rs. 200 for the artisan ones. The makers also provide home delivery anywhere in Central Mumbai between Monday to Saturday, and orders need to be placed a day in advance.
The store of The Baker’s Dozen at Prabhadevi is open from 9 am to 8:30 pm from Monday to Saturday and from 9 am to 7 pm on Sundays. You can call them on 8655331313 or 022 67431313, drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to place an order.
