A Museum Shop For Artsy Interiors

Known as the museum of museums since it tells us how museums were first conceived and presented, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, an institution of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, is Mumbai’s oldest museum that showcases its history and culture. It has been going places, organizing exhibits, lectures, seminars and workshops for children such as a puppet show and origami workshop.
After undergoing an extensive restoration project, it has now opened a shop as an extension of the museum. In view of promoting culturally sound fabrics, craftsmanship, designs and arts that we as a nation are so profoundly rich in, this shop is a welcome respite from the contemporary and sleek interiors that are being sold and bought everywhere. Reflecting the techniques and design patterns that the museum is so replete with, the shop is filled with items such as Bidri card holders, brass statues, paper mache boxes, paper puppets and specially designed Mumbai map coasters. A variety of museum inspired mugs and bags are also some of the things that can be found here.
Located in the museum building, all products in the shop are sold on an entirely non-profit basis.
Open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm except on Wednesdays, you can also reach them at 022 23731234 or 022 65560394 for more information.
You can also visit their website here.
