Title: Icky, Yucky, Mucky!
Published by: Young Zubaan in association with Saadhak Books.
Table manners are one of the most important manners that a child has to learn at an early age. So, here goes a story that will automatically motivate your kid to get those manners in place along with a couple of others.
Writer Natasha Sharma describes in detail how disgusting the Maharaja of Ickhtarpur was. “So disgusting was he that even the mirrors in the great darbar hall had cracked in horror,” she writes.
After describing the Maharaja’s terrible eating styles and practices, we begin to learn that he is now on the look out for a bride; “…and the princesses that had already seen him had the habit of fainting within the first five minutes of drinking tea with him.”
So, one fine day, in order to kill his boredom, the Maharaja decided to set out travelling across the country. And here’s where he finds his nail nibbling soul mate – Princess Yucky. That’s right! She was named Yucky! They married and enjoyed each others horrifying habits.
But when it was announced that the Maharani was expecting a baby, the entire kingdom thought they could now probably get back their spoons and nail- cutters that were banned due to the Maharaja’s and Maharani’s extremely unpleasant habits.
Anitha Balachandran, the illustrator has an impressive body of work that describes the gross story of this kingdom, and she surely merits special attention. In conclusion, your kid gets a chance to illustrate and play a game too.
