La Petite Maison in Lonavla: A Captivating Escape
We all can mutually agree that it is of utmost importance to take time out for a weekend getaway every once in a while, to escape from the hectic life we all lead. It may be easy to simply pack up and take off, driving up scenic routes to reach your destination. The tougher part is to find that perfect spot that will really make this short trip worthwhile.
We came across one such enchanting bungalow on rent in Lonavla, La Petite Maison owned by Mandira and Yurgen, which made us want to time travel to the weekend and teleport there.
Whether you’re a group of friends looking for a memorable time away from the city, or a family of four just wanting to relax amidst old world charms, fresh air and green valleys, this holiday home will have something alluring for each of you.
A tour inside La Petite Maison
A dainty bungalow atop a slope, the doors of La Petite Maison open into a spacey lounge with comfy sofas and memorabilia reminding you of a warm vintage time. The vibe here instantly makes you feel at home. The main bungalow has two suites connected to the hall, kitchen and balcony that can accommodate 3 and 4 people each. The bungalow is stocked with fun board games and also an in-house library. Sip on tea while reading your favourite book in the bungalow’s spacious balcony.
Rest assured, as Dagdoo and his wife will take care of all your needs and requirements. Get a simple yet delicious home cooked meal at Rs. 50 per person, ingredients of which you can buy on your own or pay Dagdoo to get it for you. Homely, indeed!
The Glass Room
A special feature of the bungalow is the Glass Room, an independent property where the walls on two sides are made completely of glass, giving you a breath-taking panoramic view of the valley. Comfortable and spacious enough for two people, it is equipped with amenities for a snug stay. Cozy up inside and draw the curtains to let in some sunshine, or take a lazy stroll in the adjacent garden.
Things to do
If you feel like venturing out, visit Tiger’s Leap for an excellent view of Lonavla, or dip your feet in the gushing cool waters of Bushy Dam. Picnic out in the open in the serene garden of Ryewood, or head out for adventurous treks and camp spots near Pavna Lake, Tungarli. Don’t forget to buy some famous chikkis for friends and family back home.
Drive to Fariyas Hotel and once you cross the hotel on your right, drive straight till the end of the road and then take a right. Go straight up the hill till you see a sign on the left that reads Munshi Manor. Take a left from there; the bungalow is at the end of the lane overlooking the valley. (Ask for Giri Kutir – a famous landmark around the property).

A suite on a weekday will cost Rs. 3,200 and Rs. 3,800 on weekends, which includes a room, breakfast and taxes on double occupancy.
