Busy week? No Problem, We Have ‘Art 4 Sunday’
If you ever wanted to enjoy and appreciate the wonders of art but never had the chance because of long office hours, ‘Art 4 Sunday’ offers you a chance to break away from the constraints of your 9 to 5 routine and lean back in awe.
An initiative by a collective of art galleries in the Colaba and Fort circuit, Art 4 Sunday is an attempt to allow the busy art lovers of the city to indulge in some art appreciation on their Sunday breaks. Each of the galleries vows to keep their doors open to visitors, for extended hours, every fourth Sunday of the month between 11am and 5 pm.
Located in the heart of the city, and within close proximity of each other, the art galleries involved in this initiative will be easy to get to, and travel between, so visitors can move about and visit a number of galleries within a few hours.
Kicking off on Sunday, the 24th of July, the initiative will be underway at the following venues: Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Gallery Beyond, Gallery Maskara, Lakeeren, Mumbai Art Room, Project 88, Sakshi Gallery and The Guild Gallery.
The Art 4 Sunday initiative has been launched to bring back the dwindling crowd of art lovers hopes to receive a large amount of support so as to rekindle the fading interest in art in the city.
Abhay Maskara, Curatorial Director of Gallery Maskara, says that the informal initiative, called Mumbai Art District, already has a second phase in the pipeline which is titled as Late Thursday, set to launch in the second week of August.
