The Week That Was: Sonam’s Selfie Video + Revolver Rani Promo
Everybody sick of political news dominating your life, raise your hands. Just as I suspected! With elections having commenced, news channels have gone in a tizzy, the internet can’t stop sharing ‘hard-core’ facts and people cannot stop ranting all over our timelines. Sounds to me like you and I need some good ol’ fashioned entertainment news to make up for the very political week that was. Here at InOnIt, we treat you real well so sit back, relax, have some juice (not necessary, just a suggestion) and take it all in:
1) Oh Sonam!
Tell me you saw the Koffee With Karan episode with Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. That brilliance absolutely cannot, must not, should not be missed. I for one, came away from the episode loving papa Anil who seems to be a really funny guy and well, not so much loving Sonam because…actually just watch this hilariously awesome video doing the internet rounds and you will know why:
2) RIP Archie?
For me the 90s were all about Archie and the gang. I couldn’t even imagine a summer without my favourite comic books taking over my imagination. So I’m going to take my time to grapple with the horrible news that they are going to kill the central character, adorable freckled red-head Archie Andrews off. Yeah, you heard me right. In a series called ‘Life With Archie’, they have apparently written his death and it’s supposedly heroic. Glad to know that Archie’s good boy image will be maintained for posterity but what will happen to the gang? Well we will just have to wait and watch, won’t we?
3) Gulzar Fans Rejoice
Which basically means whole country, rejoice! Veteran poet and film lyricist Gulzar has been chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2013. The award is conferred by the government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema. The multi-faceted Gulzar saab, whose real name is Sampooran Singh Kalra (did you know that?) is a lyricist, director, screen writer, producer and poet (phew) and is now the 45th winner of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Cannot think of a person who deserves it more haan?
4) Kabaddi Ash?
In some sporty news, Abhishek Bachchan has bought the Jaipur franchise of the proposed IPL-style Pro Kabaddi league to be held in the country in July-August for an undisclosed sum. The league is a joint initiative of industrialist Anand Mahindra and sports commentator Charu Sharma and will feature eight city-based franchises who will play on home and away basis.
“The sport of kabaddi is already immensely popular, and through the league I hope we can take this great sport to a whole new horizon.”
If you ask me, Abhishek should focus on his business skills; something tells me he would be good at it. As for his acting career, I think Happy New Year will be make or break for him, what do you think?
5) Undisputed Queen
Only Kangana can pull this off; watch the trailer to know exactly what I mean. She cemented her place in Bollywood with Queen and now she’s doing a follow up act with this quirky character in Revolver Rani. Also, so nice to see Vir Das do something besides playing the urban creative stereotype. Really looking forward to this impending dhamaaka!
That’s it on The Week That Was. We secretly hope we have left you wanting more. And for that, there’s always next week!
Till then stay fabulous and in on it
