Celeb Style Weekly: Sonam’s Cannes Hangover
From screenings to birthday parties, this week saw many events where a host of B-town ladies made an appearance. Here’s a roundup of those who caught our eye. Pleasing and horrific sights—we get you both!
1. Sonam Kapoor
Cannes returned Sonam Kapoor wore a Bibhu Mohapatra dress to Karan Johar’s birthday bash. Neatly tied hair and earrings completed her look. Even though Sonam looked lovely, we think a birthday party deserved a slightly more casual attire. Looks like someone still has a Cannes hangover!
2. Rani Mukerji
Newly married Rani Mukerji made her first public appearance in a Sabyasachi suit at the store launch of Diva’ni. Being dressed in red from head to toe, Rani looks nothing less than a new bride! But traditional footwear would have been a better choice for this outfit, don’t you think?
3. Alia Bhatt
From party wear to Indian to formals—this week saw Alia in many avatars. It started with Zara separates at KJo’s birthday after which she wore a fun Arpita Mehta patiala suit to the trailer launch of her film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. She followed this up with an Archana Rao blouse and pencil skirt to the Diva’ni store launch. A good week for Alia as she managed to rock all the appearances with élan!
4. Kangana Ranaut
When Kangana’s in Burberry, you know she’s going to look great. The Queen wore a white blouse and Burberry skirt to Karan’s birthday bash. Again, a formal look for a party but seeing how gorgeous she looked we aren’t complaining! Kangana later attended a Tanishq press conference, where she wore a Burberry lace dress. We’re loving the soft curls and dewy make-up. Hats off to her for experimenting and getting it right!
5. Vidya Balan
If Kangana stuck to Burberry, Vidya lived in long kurtas this week. We saw her in a series of totally forgettable looks. Neither the (super) long Manish Malhotra white kurta nor the pink sari worked for her. If there was anything worth talking about, it was the light pink Anita Dongre suit she wore to the trailer launch of Bobby Jasoos. Vidya looked plain and nice—let’s just leave it at that!
6. Parineeti Chopra
We hate to say this each time, but why Parineeti would leave the house without glancing at the mirror is beyond us. The bubbly actress wore a blue romper along with a Masaba crop jacket to Karan’s bash and looked highly uncomfortable in it. Give these unflattering outfits a toss and wear something that suits your body type, Pari! Her second appearance was a notch better, where she was seen in a black and gold Ridhi Mehra gown.
7. Malaika Arora Khan
Meet yummy mummy Malaika Arora Khan, who seems to be getting younger and younger with age. She opted for a white crop top and pencil skirt to Karan Johar’s party. Except for the huge blue pumps, we think she looked absolutely perfect!
8. Huma Qureshi
We saw Huma playing dress up and dress down for two events this week. Dressed in an embellished Koovs dress, she looked chic at KJo’s party. On the other hand, she went the casual way at the screening of Citylights by slipping on trousers and a tee along with a rolled up denim shirt. The right choice for the right occasions—good going, Huma!
9. Lara Dutta
Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta was seen attending a Colgate press meet wearing a Bebe halter-neck dress. Gold earrings and dull-gold pumps completed her look. We think she looked gorgeous!
Who do you think was the best and worst dressed?
