Celeb Style Weekly: Lakme Fashion Week Special
It’s LFW time and you can’t blame us for expecting some real killer fashion looks at the event. We’re going to thank our stars (quite literally), because this was the one time they didn’t disappoint. With the exception of the turkey of the week, of course. But then, without that, our lovely round-up wouldn’t be complete, now, would it? So, thank you, Anu Dewan, for ruining what’s otherwise an impressive list of celeb looks.
1. Shibani Dandekar
The pretty model and anchor is usually quite good with her fashion selections; and this time was no different. We’re digging the way she combined her black skort and tee with that typewriter print vest (Masaba?) and black booties. The minimal makeup and hair only added to the impact of this look. Simply love!
2. Shaheen Abbas
We know midi skirts are last season, but Shaheen’s neon one was breathtaking. What elevated the simple look was that spiked hairband and her pink lips and pumps. Well done, Shaheen!
3. Manasi Scott
It’s always a good idea to where the creation of the designer whose show you’re attending, and Manasi stuck to that brief in her grey Amit Aggarwal gown. She looked gorgeous but, unfortunately for Amit, the design only highlighted how uninspiring this season’s collection was. Been a bit lazy this time, haven’t we, Amit?!
4. Konkona Sen Sharma
How delightfully fresh does Koko look in her earthy saree with that wooden neckpiece and big bindi. We could find simply nothing to fault in this outfit. Wish we saw more of you, Konkona!
5. Tillotama Shome
Another instance of traditional wear done well was this look by Tillotama, who wore a burnt-orange Anavila saree with a striped blouse and blue bindi. Effortlessly stylish, we say!
6. Poorna Jagannathan
It might look cheap on some, but this deep-necked Rahul Mishra dress looked positively sexy on Poorna. We only wish the hair was better styled and the makeup blended better. Seems like Ms Jagannathan was running late and decided to take some liberties with them. Not the best idea when you have a hundred cameras on you, girl!
7. Maria Goretti
Just when we couldn’t believe our good luck, along came Maria. While the kimono-inspired outfit worked great with those blue sandals, this was clearly fresh-faced gone wrong.
And the turkey of Lakmé Fashion Week goes to…
8. Anu Dewan
We are befuddled as to why you would spend an obscene amount of money on Lanvin and yet pick this tacky lamé jumpsuit up. Couple that with a dowdy Louis Vuitton clutch and you have a look that rivals Ameesha Patel.
