Celebrity Fashion Faux Pas 2013: “Killing” the Black Look
For most people, black is the go-to color for almost any occasion, but through 2013 we’ve spotted a number of celebrities who actually managed to undo that for themselves. After going through the number of sites that I have and seeing the kind of faux pas that I just did, I’m amazed at how these celebrities could possibly go wrong with some of the most basic self-styling steps. And what is usually unbelievable is that they’re almost never self styled!
In continuing the Bollywood Fashion disasters of 2013, here are some serious fashion faux pas by celebs this year .
Huma Qureshi At MFF
We know that Mumbai Film Festival isn’t all about style, beauty, fashion and that sort of thing, but to take it to a level where you make a public appearance looking like this is something you should fire your stylist for. Although the two pieces, the jumpsuit and the bottle green jacket, would have looked great individually, they make a complete mess when paired together. Major minus points for further killing the look with these flats.
She probably skipped the step where you look into the mirror while leaving your vanity when making an appearance in public for an event. With the over-done compact/foundation combination and the “statement” neckpiece clashing miserably with the tank top, this look should have been killed right at the front door.
Divya Dutta At The Launch Of Shaukeen
Ronit Roy’s movie launch was hosted at Cafe Mangii, Juhu, and among the many stars that showed up was Divya Dutta. With this (wannabe) teenage girl look (here’s how to do it right), and a bit of the Hawaiian-girl feel (the flower and the cut of the skirt), I really wonder what Dutta was thinking. Maybe if she (a) lost the blazer for the blouse to show, that way the look would have a more feminine feel (b) wear pants instead of a skirt so it would be a fully formal look (c) lose the flower, wear strappy heels and open the blazer for the blouse to show, the look would be a lot better!
Taking a leaf out of Kareena’s book (her look at the screening of Gori Tere Pyar Mein), Richa Chadda too landed up making a public appearance in a pair of inner-wear that should have been clicked, tested, changed at the front door. With celebrities going wrong in the most basic steps of style through 2013, we wonder what 2014 will bring us!
