India’s New Sweetheart

I just saw Highway so this one’s hot off the press. Once again, I’m head over heels in love with Imtiaz Ali’s story telling. This time he’s taken a seemingly improbable and implausible story and told it so beautifully, it becomes your reality. I can’t write a word further without commending Alia Bhatt on her stellar performance. She enthralls you with skill that belies her age and experience; giving you many, many moments to marvel at her nuanced performance. She deserves every single award which she shall win for this film. Randeep Hooda too did full justice to his role, and I’m sorry I can’t stop gushing, but this film is Alia’s. Does look like she’s winning the prestigious title of ‘India’s new sweetheart’. Now looking forward to Two States with Alia and Arjun Kapoor, the first look of the movie was revealed this week. You like?

Whats ‘Appening Facebook?

I’m pretty certain you heard about this one already. It’s all anyone’s been talking about. Yes, Facebook has entered into an agreement to acquire WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, for $19 billion in cash and stock. (Phew!) The deal is by far Facebook’s largest acquisition to date and comes after rumors in late 2012 and early 2013 that Facebook and Google were vying to buy the messaging service. Some argue that this isn’t the wisest deal while most are worried WhatsApp won’t be left ad free. Ah well, let’s wait and watch…what choice do we have anyway? *chuckles*

Heroes Fans Rejoice!

NBC is reviving Heroes, Tim Kring’s popular sci-fi TV drama about people with superhuman abilities, as a miniseries in 2015. The network revealed the comeback Saturday night, saying it has ordered 13 episodes “for a new standalone story arc” called Heroes Reborn. Wait, it gets better. The statement given by the network says “we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.” Well what can I say? We love giving you good news!

Wedding Bells Have Rung

We reported to you in November about how these two cuties were engaged. Less than three months after news of their engagement went public, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody have married in a super-secret wedding. Apparently the pair is notoriously shy and secretive, so unlike Blair and Seth naa? Ah well, life is not a Josh Schwartz television series. But if it were, these two would have the perfect wedding a la Gossip Girl and The OC! *I clearly refuse to grow up*

What A Gorgeous Couple

10 Years Since Carrie Bradshaw

Has it been that long? Really? It feels like Carrie and the girls have been around all this while. Well of course there are the two movies but then they weren’t even a patch on how the show was. Add to that, the fact that we live in India so we still watch the show (Love CBS, if I’m not wrong). But when I saw all these articles floating around on the web, I wondered what Carrie Bradshaw has gone and done now. Well turns out it’s plain old nostalgia and some of it is worth reading too. Brought a smile to my face, thought I’d leave you with it. Read:,,20789168,00.html

That’s all folks, on The Week That Was.

See you next week? Until then let’s say a collective prayer that interesting stuff happens this week and I don’t have to rack my brains figuring what to report. No? Okay, no problem. Have a good one anyway.
