David Shrigley Adds Dark Humour To Art

Dark humour and straightforward technique, the two aspects that have drawn accolades to Shrigley’s work for over twenty years.
A resident of Scotland, David Shrigley is an artist and a cartoonist whose works defy the belief that art must be solemn in order to be serious. His works are often a combination of image and text that reveal an absurd and mordant sensibility.
The works showcased at Mumbai Art Room are a quintessential selection of the artist’s works of small scale drawings from 2007 that illustrates his aim to communicate as simply and directly as possible. With deadpan captions and simple drawings, Shrigley’s works have a dark sense of humour affixed to it.
