DIY 1

Transform a boring dress with this style that looks great for the day and the night.

What you need:

  • A plain dress or tank
  • Scissors
  • A ruler
  • A pencil or chalk

1. Begin with trying on your dress and deciding where exactly you want your cutout to be, you don’t want it too high or too low so it’s important to try it on and figure it out.
2. Mark where you want your top incision to be. Mark the bottom incision about 11 cms below. Don’t forget to do it on the back as well.
3. Find the midpoint of the dress and mark an inch on either side of it. this is going to be your knot.
4. Now, you can start cutting into the dress from the sides to the middle.

6. Cut off any excess fabric from the knot.
7. Dress your new dress up or down for a boozey brunch or a quiet dinner for two.

2. Side Cutout Dress

DIY 2

Add a fun twist to a plain LBD or transform an old, printed dress into something pretty and new.

What you need:

  • An old dress
  • Scissors
  • A ruler
  • A pencil
  • A needle and thread

1. Decide where exactly you want your cutout to be. It should start from the side, below the bust diagonally towards the centre of the dress. Turn it inside out and using a ruler, draw your sloping line on both sides (It will form a triangle).
2. Cut along the line, do the front first and then the back. Don’t try to cut the front and back together as you will end up cutting off the waistline.

3. Hem all the sides of your triangular cut-out with your needle and thread for a neater, refined cutout. You don’t want shabby threads hanging out.  It won’t take long as it’s just a small section.
4. Flaunt the curve of your waist in your own creation. It’s ultra flattering and perfect for the party season.
