DIY Natural Lipsticks
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ DIY? Not only do you get to save tons of money but you also get a high from creating something you can use all by yourself. *Pat on your back!* If all you beauty junkies have a serious lipstick fetish like me and can’t help but splurge every-time you discover an exciting new colour, this DIY is tailor made for you. Create your own signature lip colour minus all the harmful chemicals while saving your moolah. After all, makeup doesn’t come cheap. Using natural ingredients, here is a simple method to create your own colours for your pucker in a matter of minutes.
What You Need:
- 1 teaspoon shea butter
- 1 teaspoon beeswax
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- For colour: a pinch of beetroot powder for red or a quarter teaspoon of cocoa powder and a pinch of cinnamon for tan
- a drop of essential oil for a scent of your choice, eg. vanilla, strawberry, peppermint, etc.
Step 1: Put the shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil in a small jar and melt it by placing the jar without the lid in a pot of boiling water.
Step 2: Once it’s melted, take it off the heat and add the colour and essential oil to the mix.
Step 3: After all the ingredients are blended but still liquid, pour it in an old chapstick container or lip balm pot. Don’t fill it right to the top as it will expand as it cools.
Step 4: Store in a cool place at all times.
