Informative pieces of paper bound together with knowledge and love. With technology making its presence felt at every corner, it is hard to get your kids to concentrate on this (now ancient) form of information. To get your kid addicted to this magical, habit-forming world of book reading, Karishma Attari has started The Super Readers Club that takes place in Khar. This gold medalist, who topped her MA in English is a novelist and book reviewer and brings her background in teaching, theatre, literature and experience as a mother to the club for a unique learning environment.   At this friendly club, kids will get to read and learn from award-winning, internationally popular books that are age-relevant and helpful in GK, vocabulary, illustration and imagination. It is important to turn reading into a habit as a child, as it helps the kid gain language confidence and form ethical viewpoints at an early age in a competitive world.  The Super Readers Club is held in 3-month long terms wherein they cover 3 books, with 4 sessions dedicated to each book. This would involve reading, discussions and vocabulary boosters, supplemented with crafts, art and themed worksheets. The goal is to have each child contribute confidently to discussions and reading aloud in a fun and intriguing environment, without pushing them to do so. Kids from the age of 2.5 to 11 years can join the club.  A lot of parents have spoken about how their kids have become avid book lovers and that the club has opened up their minds.  A 3 month session costs Rs. 3,700 and you can register by calling Karishma on 9821331552 or sending her an email at karishma@thesuperreadersclub.com or super.readers.club@gmail.com.    View The Super Reader Clubs’ Facebook page here.]]>You Know You’d Rather Marry A Friend!http://www.inonit.in/node/2492Mon, 20 May 2013 09:26:00 GMTMarriage - the unison of two souls into one, a lifelong of ‘I dos’, a feeling so invigorating you only feel it when it happens to you – a reason to be.  What’s important to know before you decide that he/she is ‘the one’? Another part of us loves pretty things. Combine these parts into one and the result will be outstanding. But how do we do that? How do we get design to help save the natural world? The brainchild behind Age of Sage, Shreya Nagpal got inspired by her passion for the environment and love of design and luxury to start her own unique line of products for homes. She uses reclaimed products such as old bottles, jars, wood and old electric boxes that are repurposed through the process of upcycling. Finally, she brings to you an end creation that is contemporary and pretty, almost unrecognisable from the original raw materials used. It started off when Shreya was designing her farmhouse in Karjat without the help of an architect and realised that she wanted to incorporate repurposed products in her house and garden. And since she couldn’t find any items that were artistic and pretty along with being environment friendly, she decided to take matters in her own hands. Her creativity made her launch her brand, named after her 13-year old Labrador Sage.  Age of Sage has a variety of products such as LED lights, hanging lights, lamps, light installations, candles, candleholders, glasses, vases, planters, penholders, mitti pots and furniture. They are also coming up up with a range of garden accessories like bird feeders and wind chimes. Reclaimed materials used to make these products are thoroughly cleaned and treated before the ultimate transformation, and each piece is handpainted and sealed to avoid discolouration. They also customize products to fit the client’s needs, by creating engraved lamps with initials and tailored colour themes when it comes to furniture. The bar lights are a total hit and they also make gift items for festivals and occassions, along with centre pieces for weddings on pre-order basis.  The price of the products ranges between Rs. 700 and Rs. 20,000 and you can get in touch with them by calling on 9768905526 or sending an email to ageofsage@gmail.com. They deliver across India and payment can be made through bank transfers.  Click here to view Age of Sage’s Facebook page and shop!]]>Of Exotic Flowers and Picturesque Valleyshttp://www.inonit.in/node/2501Sat, 18 May 2013 09:36:55 GMTIf you love pretty little things, you will love this. Momoshttp://www.inonit.in/node/2494Thu, 16 May 2013 10:25:26 GMTIf your weakness is street food, then how glad are you that you live in Mumbai? Every corner of this city has a unique little eatery that has some history behind it. And momos are now an integral part of the street food mix – what with momo stations being sprung up everywhere.  While walking on Hill Road on a busy day, we spotted a very tiny bright red board with the words ‘O! Momos’ written on it in striking yellow. This take-away momo joint is opposite Cheap Jack, if you’re trying to figure. Hunger pangs immediately kicked in, so we browsed through the menu to find interesting options of chicken momos such as schezwan, Shanghai, chicken cheese and chilly chicken momos. The veg section consists of mix veg, corn cheese, spinach corn cheese, paneer chilli and creamy mushroom momos. We opted for a plate of steaming chicken momos that came in 6 pieces – warm and soft with subtle flavours. The chilli red sauce was spicy and tangy, while the mysterious black sauce (that we later found out was made out of soya sauce) was a bit too strong and pungent for our liking. What we liked was that the momos are freshly steamed so you will have to wait for a good ten minutes for your plate.  O! Momos has outlets in Bandra, Andheri, Kandivali and Thane and they provide home delivery at an extra charge of Rs. 10. A plate of chicken momos would cost you between Rs. 60 and Rs. 80 and veg ones will cost you between Rs. 50 and Rs. 75.  To place orders for home delivery from the Bandra outlet, call on 9920563710 or 022 6454886.  Click here for complete addresses of all outlets.]]>Store Alert: Lulu Australia Comes to Mumbaihttp://www.inonit.in/node/2497Thu, 16 May 2013 07:33:36 GMTYou know what a girl needs more than her make-up, phone and other pretty little things? It brings out her inner beauty and grace. And why not, it is the most refined and classic apparel known to womankind.  Adding fun, eccentricity and originality to sarees is Samavaya by Ronitaa.  Her sheer passion for the love of this timeless garment made Ronitaa Italia-Dhanu design sarees that were true to her style. What started as a personal liking towards making her own ensemble, turned into a profession for designing sarees for others – when she made 7 different ones for her friends and family, who absolutely loved her work! Thus, with the onset of the New Year, Samavaya came to being in January 2013.  The brand’s name aptly comes from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘a continuous thread’. Ronitaa’s sarees are a perfect unison of the conventional style and contemporary trends. She manages to make each of her sarees fun, young and inventive by not putting any rules or fixed grids and by playing with colours and styles to make eclectic combinations. Uninhibited, that’s what we call it. Her creativity is free flowing, just like her silhouettes. Think neon meets gold embellishments or fun polka dots in different colours or just a mix and match of patchworks coming together. The fabrics and borders are sourced from various suppliers and put together beautifully by her.  Currently, Samavaya takes appointments at their workshop to meet clients, and they take enquiries through their Facebook page.  Ronitaa will customise a saree for you, based on the brand’s aesthetics. And you can be rest assured that your Samavaya saree will not be seen on anyone else, as they do not make any two identical ones.  Samavaya sarees cost anywhere between Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 6,500. The trousseau collection, which is slightly heavier is priced between Rs. 8,500 and Rs. 12,500. They deliver across India and abroad with additional shipping charges and offer cash on delivery and free home delivery in Mumbai.  To get in touch, call them on 9167750957 or send an email to samavayadesigns@gmail.com. We now tell you of a girl brand that is the latest one to have caught our fancy! To match the loca shenanigans that all us ladies indulge in from time to time, we give you Crow, a brand that introduces female apparel with a twist. A little something for everybody, Crow has sheer and shimmer, polka dots and cut-out hearts, big bows and more! There are simplistic patterns for those who love to stick to basics and complex cuts, patches and prints for those who are fond of the bold and beautiful. And for those who like to experiment, they’ve also introduced old-school Indian prints such as Kalamkari, Shibori and Indigo dyes in contemporary designs. All this and more, but the fact remains that they are hell-bent on redefining women’s fashion. So, each of their clothing will have a tiny detail such as a cut, a patch of pocket, a couple of ruffles or even just asymmetrical hemlines that the outfit will beautifully own up to. They customize to an extent that you can send them your measurements and they will have your fave pick fitting you like a glove. They also have little surprises time and again such as a sleeveless dress that sleeves could be added to, a reversible vest or if an outfit has flown off the shelf they will get it back if you so desire. Flirty, feminine and you, Crow clothing promises to show you a newer way of playing dress up while staying true to what you are. Like they say, it is about being free yet expressing yourself in the best way you can. To view their apparel, visit their website by clicking here. You can also reach them at 7878204446 or 9323380902 or write to them at thecrow.infoo@gmail.com]]>Moms-To-Be Or Fashionable Moms-To-Be?http://www.inonit.in/node/2482Tue, 07 May 2013 08:43:00 GMTThroughout our lives we women are accustomed to chitter-chatter that revolves around the number of inches she’s lost and the number of inches I’ve gained. The last cookie is left. It shall be eaten too and only crumbs will remain. The secret will be locked forever.  Unless, you let The Gypsy Kitchen preserve it for you; and give it the appreciation and recognition it deserves. You do want people to taste grandma’s to-die-for dishes, don’t you? A new food and heritage conservation project, The Gypsy kitchen is launched by restaurateur Riyaz Amlani (of Smoke House Deli, Salt Water Café), in collaboration with chef Gresham Fernandes and The Busride Design Studio.  The kitchen will create a pop-up restaurant/table/space at surprise locations in Mumbai for housewives to showcase their undying love and passion for cooking, and make a supplementary income out of it too.  Rich traditions, cooking cultures and home recipes passed on through generations and made lovingly by mothers, grandmas and aunts will be taken and presented to Mumbai-ites in a stylish format. Eventually, they will spread this project across various cities in the country. The chef will work with these women and understand their techniques, and together they will put forth extraordinary meals for the guests. Indian home cooking is incredibly creative, and The Gypsy Kitchen only intends to bring that out in public and let the world know what home-makers already do.  The kitchen starts operating from 24th May 2013 onwards. To be a part of this project, or have your mums or aunts cook for these pop-up tables, view their Facebook page here and send them a message with the necessary details. ]]>Welcome Your Virtual Cooking Masterhttp://www.inonit.in/node/2480Fri, 03 May 2013 10:58:04 GMTIf you’re anything like me, then your culinary repertoire, I am sure does not feature any gastronomical heavyweights. You have obviously been ridiculed time and again for your lack of know-how that according to ‘them’ should at least extend to names of pulses, spices and some such things. There have also been times that this almost-handicap of yours has turned into a life lesson with your mom explaining (?) to you the importance of self-reliance and the joys of feeding others with love. Well, here it is then: A Youtube channel, ReadySteadyEat that focuses on teaching you not just the nuances of cooking but also big and small recipes and other things that you might be too embarrassed to ask anyone. Manned by 3 gourmet Gods, Saloni (a cooking expert, a dessert baker and a cooking teacher), Kanak (an ex-Masterchef India contestant) and Harsh (a food blogger and caterer), they will take you through this journey and make the art of cooking a pleasurable, simpler experience for food aficionados the world over! To tempt you, they’ve included vegetarian recipes, non-vegetarian recipes, snacks, desserts, Indian sweets and more in their digital cook-book.  Only 8 months old, they are already over 4500 subscribers strong and with good reason too! Oh yes, it’s time. It’s time we women stopped looking at the world in colours of black and white. And it’s definitely time we went back to dreaming of the sun, moon and the stars. Do you even remember what that felt like? Wearing colourfully stripped racer-backs, a popsicle in our hand, cycling around with fly-away hair, playing house and content in everything life had to offer? The surest way to bookmark our lives was to make collages, stick pictures and write little notes. Well, who said you can’t do all of that even today? Limeroad, a social-commerce platform enables women to come together and bookmark their lives. Or more specifically, bookmark their shopping wants, wishes and whims, which is sort of the same thing. Register for free on Limeroad and you can upload images, open products and drag it on your scrapbook, write little snippets on what you feel, save it and share it with your friends to get a second opinion. You can then also buy it if your girlfriends approve! Check out what other fashionistas are drooling over and you can learn a trick or two of the trade. Limeroad offers umbrellas of home and living, apparels, bags, accessories, footwear and gifts to categorise your closet.
