A Fresh Sunday at the Farmers’ Market in Mumbai This November 2013
A concept that is given much importance across many countries, the farmers market is gaining gradual popularity in India as well. People are realizing the importance of fresh, organic produce that should be a part of your daily diet. After six successful stints in Pune that had 15 restaurants, many home bakers and other experts participating, they are bringing Farmers’ Market in Mumbai by Karen Anand on 17th November 2013 at The Westin.
The Mumbai Farmers’ Market (MFM) is a platform for food and drink enthusiasts to come together and explore culinary demonstrations to increase their knowledge. A variety of exhibitors will showcase their artisanal produce at the MFM, and restaurants such as Jam Jar Diner, Between Breads, Punjab Grill and Prego will also be a part of the event with an array of their signature dishes for visitors to sample. If you thought picnicking in Mumbai wasn’t possible, this is your opportunity to wine and dine out in the open under the afternoon sun.
Walk around the picturesque alfresco setting at the Westin and learn about the sustainability of quality living through healthy food habits.
You can browse through and shop for fresh produce by horticulture experts, kitchenware, meats and cheeses, imported gourmet products, and produce by vegetable and fruit vendors.
There will be a Patisserie Pavilion and Kids Pavilion, where home bakers and dessert connoisseurs such as Ashey’s by Ashima Chawla, Cheesecake Republic and Payal Talwalker will offer freshly baked breads, cakes, muffins, cupcakes, macaroons and more.
Wine enthusiasts can sample Indian wines such as York, Sula and Myra and interact with the winemakers. Those looking to sharpen their kitchen skills can meet with experts in the field such as Karen Anand, masterchef Ajay Chopra, Prahlad Kakkar and chocolatier Zeba Kohli.
