Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2: The brilliant end of a 10 year journey
At long last the Harry Potter series of films has ended with a total of 8 complete films spanning over a period of 10 years. For an entire generation of youth, the Harry Potter franchise of books and films has actually been a part of their process of growth, and as such, a certain sense of nostalgia would be expected especially from adolescents who are witnessing the close of one of their favourite movie franchises. To think of it, the Harry Potter franchise has been a companion, entertainer and creator of a world of its own to practically everyone for the better part of a decade.
The climatic end to the franchise sees the second half of the book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, being fledged out onto the movie screen in the genres of action, romance, thriller and mystery. As Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger continue on their mission to destroy the Dark Lord, Voldermort, they realise that they must face incredible perils in order to find and destroy the remaining horcruxes. With a journey that takes them deep into the vaults of Gringotts Bank, the narrow lanes in the village of Hogsmeade, the dark trenches in the Forbidden Forest and ultimately ending in the courtyard of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the three friends may have to bid an ultimate farewell as Harry goes on to face Voldermort in a final battle between good and evil which must end in the death of one of them.
Filled with action packed sequences and thrilling twists and turns in the storyline, the final induction in the list of Harry Potter sequels has its moments of adventure, romance, hints of comedy and more, which has come to be expected of the Harry Potter series. Something else which has come to be expected after seven previous films is the exceptional use of audio and video special effects. And as expected the actors have given stellar performances in the wake of the series finale. Kudos to the cast and crew who gave their best to make a memorable film for the finale of a series which is close to almost everyone’s heart; be it the audience, the crew or the actors.
It is advisable to watch whether you want to experience some form of nostalgia, after having followed the journey of the Boy-Who-Lived for a decade, or even if you are just interested in witnessing a good, entertaining film. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 certainly has the elements to make it enchanting and endearing to all.
