How To Prep Up In Leather

Winter is just around the corner and surely you are already pulling your cozy knits out of that storage box. You have always fancied wearing a chic leather ensemble without looking like a biker chick. Leather is sexy, versatile and makes a bold statement if worn well.  Once you get comfortable with it, you can create a variety of looks ranging from chic to feminine to professional. What more, it’s a great change from wearing your woolen clothes all the time. Wonder how to put together a look in leather? Don’t fret.  As always, we have taken care of this too.

Classic chic

Choose a skirt that is well fitted and stops at just a few inches above your knees. Pair the skirt either with a well fitted black shirt or just a thin sweater, be it sleeveless, short sleeved or long depending on your mood and season. Here we have chosen a black shirt with army flaps that go very much in trend with the season. Also, when you are wearing a fitted skirt like this one, a loose flowy top or shirt compliments it best. And to sum up the look wear classic pumps and statement jewelry.

Casual yet feminine

Although leather is known for being tough and sexy, a leather dress can look quite feminine when matched with accessories that exude femininity. What we have picked is a pair of stone-embellished flats (you can pick any decorative flats of your choice) and teamed it with a floral scarf. It’s tough yet very feminine. If you like, accessorize further with some danglers or a bunch of cuffs, but avoid too much bling if you want to look classy.

Look sexy

Contrast a tough leather jacket with soft fabric for a sexy evening look. Ditch the old shrugs or cardigans, a leather jacket is what you need for the coming chills. We get it that you may not want to give too much of an edgy look with a leather jacket, but a feminine flow-y dress balances it well and you still get the best of both worlds.

For the professional

You may be wondering how leather at work could ever work. Leather may not be apt for all professional settings, but if you’re lucky enough to be at a creative or fashion oriented setup, use your dress code policy to your advantage. Since you do not want to go over the top, we recommend a conservative yet sophisticated style. Wear a well fitted pencil skirt that ends right at the knee or an inch or two below. Match a cardigan or loose fitted blouse, tuck it in, and add a slim waist belt to provide definition. Keep your accessories minimal and simple. A silver bracelet or a classy watch are some options to consider adding.

Style tip: Too leather is difficult to pull off. One leather item per ensemble is just right.
