I Live Under Your Sky Too

Have you any plans this evening; say around 6:30 pm? Come see me, I will be lit up with beautiful words, beamed the sky on Carter Road.
If you’re around that area in the evening, you might notice glinting words floating above the sea, amidst the setting sun, that read I Live Under Your Sky Too.
Something one does not see every day, stop by for a look at artist Shilpa Gupta’s public artwork that goes live on the Carter Road promenade in Bandra, from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm daily until 9th March 2013
The animated art installation celebrates the diversity of communities and culture in our country, by highlighting the saying in three different languages namely Hindi, Urdu and English. It explores the idea of religious, national and political, class and gender divides through her poetic medium of art. Only one language lights up at a time even though each one is linked with the other, thus making people connect the communities with each other.
The idea is to make passers by on Carter road get intrigued by this simple yet impactful artwork and in some way inspire them.
Shilpa Gupta’s sculpture is a Creative India sponsored project with support from the Bandra West Neighborhood Association and Chemould Prescott Road.
This Friday, 22nd February 2013 from 7:00 pm onwards, join the artist for an opening celebration with a musical performance by the Salvation Singers and a Q&A session with her and the Curator and Director of Creative India, Diana Campbell.
It makes for a pretty picture, the artwork with a subtle message, and if anything, it will make you smile while your busily striding away for an evening walk.
