IIFA 2014 Celeb Style: The Hits, The Flops & The Utter Disasters

IIFA 2014 saw a galaxy of stars gracing the green carpet. But which B-town actress exhibited the best of Indian beauty in Tampa? And which leading lady let us down? We don our fashion police hats and bring you all the style from the event.

The Hits

Priyanka Chopra In Monique Lhuillier

Piggy Chops stunned us in this champagne coloured gown. Minimalist accessories and an updo complemented the elegance of her ensemble. Smokey eyes brought out the sexiness in her. A hands-down win, this.

Deepika Padukone In Zuhair Murad

Dippy looked absolutely gorgeous in her red Zuhair Murad lace gown.  Although her outfit was one of the most attractive ones on the green carpet, we wish she had opted for a different shade of lipstick. Berry does not complement red—she would’ve done better to match her lips with her outfit or wear a soft shade of pink.

Kareena Kapoor Khan In Giorgio Armani

Kareena Kapoor Khan oozed sophistication in this black illusion panelled gown, with a plunging neckline. Subtle pink lips and nails complemented the colour of her dress perfectly.

Vaani Kapoor In  Raakesh Agarvwal

Vaani Kapoor stole the show in a backless nude gown with gold embellishments. A sleek bun and subtle eye makeup helped keep the focus on her bold red lips. Styled to perfection, we say!

The So-sos

Kalki Koechlin In Gaurav Gupta

Kalki, a regular on our most well-dressed list, looked beautiful in an embroidered grey gown with tulle inserts. We appreciate the fact that she steered away from dramatic makeup to let the focus remain on her eye-catching ensemble.

Bipasha Basu In Rocky S

Bips wore a black sequinned slip gown with a long train to the event. Poker-straight hair with side-swept bangs worked well on her face. She opted for bold and dark eye makeup, adding a good dose of drama to her glam look.

Sridevi Kapoor In Oscar De La Renta

Sri Devi in black sequinned slip gown at IIFA Awards 2014

The classic beauty went the monotone route with her off-shoulder Oscar De La Renta creation, which she paired with a black envelope clutch. A classy bouffant added a touch of retro charm to her look.

The Flops

Aditi Rao Hydari In Gauri And Nainika

The black ensemble could have looked just fine without the white additions, which resemble the fins of a fish. While we do love her faux bob, didn’t anybody tell her to match the shade of her blush with her lips?

Malaika Arora Khan in Shivan & Narresh

Malaika Arora Khan in Shivan & Narresh's dress at IIFA Awards 2014

There is absolutely nothing that stands out in this green carpet look. It might have worked for a lesser-known name, but from the prim-and-proper Malaika we expect much better. A run-of-the mill silhouette combined with an oddly placed metallic pattern does absolutely nothing for her.

The Disasters

Parineeti Chopra In Nikhil Thampi

Parineeti Chopra In Nikhil Thampi's Pink Dress at IIFA Awards 2014

While the mullet style can work really well, this one fails to impress. The bubbly actress wore a pink gown featuring a high-cut waist with black trousers. The Nikhil Thampi ensemble might have worked well for a launch party back home, but for the IIFA Parineeti looked highly underdressed.

Sonakshi Sinha In Amit Aggarwal

There are no words to describe this calamity. The cutout near the shoulder looks like it’s been accidentally torn and the balconette neckline doesn’t flatter her silhouette at all. Please hire a good stylist—pronto.
