The veggie bandwagon calls out to all herbivores in the city. It will take you to places with infinite arrays of veg delights, some you may already love and some you would love to try. For all you vegetarians out there, we have compiled a list of our favourite all-veg restaurants in Mumbai so you can indulge in your favourite dishes. Whoever said non-vegetarians have more options to choose, hasn’t read our guide yet!

Swati Snacks

What started as Minakshiben’s endeavour of a home-cooked fast food joint in Mumbai 40 years ago, has now turned into a must-visit place and a favourite for vegetarians. Swati Snacks’ traditional Indian recipes and mouthwatering street food flavours will give you a true taste of India. The panki and fada ni khichdi are absolute favourites and their jalebis, hand churned ice creams and papdi should definitely be ordered if you’re there on a Sunday for breakfast.

Kitab Khaana’s Café Food For Thought

If you’re satiated with all the book browsing at Kitab Khana, head to their all-veg café Food For Thought and choose from options like sandwiches, salads, pasta, pizza and dessert. We swear by their finger-licking mushroom sandwich and their spicy kimchi on hash browns. Also, try their bhel puri sandwich, which, however odd it may sound, is pretty good. And their hot apple tea would go perfect with a good read. A meal for two would cost approximately Rs. 500. Read our full review of Food For Thought here.

Tuskers at Sofitel

Tuskers, a regional cuisine restaurant at luxury hotel Sofitel at BKC will provide you Indian food from all over the country. This restaurant is frequented by all who work at the commercial area and tourists who want to try desi tadkas. Go with a heavy appetite, a spicy palate and room for their kulfi platter. Meal for two here would cost approximately Rs. 2,300.

Little Italy

All pizza and pasta lovers should be glad there is a pure veg Italian restaurant in Mumbai. With ingredients imported from Italy itself, expect lip-smacking Italian dishes that are authentic at Little Italy. We love their cheesy pizzas and crispy potato skins that come with a yummy dip. A glass of wine from their extensive list would be perfect for a lovely dinner.

A South Indian food galore is what you will find at Dakshinayan in Juhu. It’s a bit different from your regular fast food joints. It’s menu is authentic, varied and their many chutneys deserve a special mention. Definitely go here for a great South Indian breakfast that can be finished off with their famous filter coffee. And if you like added spice to your meals, try their feiry rasam.

Call them on a Tuesday night for dinner reservations and you will be on the waiting list. Goes to show how popular Quattro is amongst Mexican and Italian cuisine fans. Try their signature nachos or wood-fire oven pizzas made on fresh dough and you won’t be disappointed. Their desserts are of course, eggless and gelatin-free. Quattro will soon open at R City Mall in Ghatkopar.

Café Madras

Another South Indian restaurant that claims to have authentic cuisine, their steamed idli with white butter will melt in your mouth and make you want to come back for more. Cafe Madras is a very economic and casual place for a quick bite. You can also choose to make your dosa oil-free. The restaurant is closed on Mondays but we rather you get a take-away anyway, because the place can get a little cramped.

Address: Café Madras, 38 -B, Circle House, King’s Circle, Matunga, Mumbai

Chinese cuisine is missing here, so how about heading to 5 Spice at Marine Lines because this one is pure veg. Call them on 022 22817156 for reservations.

You can also go to Cream Centre because its menu consists of almost all the cuisines that the Indian palate loves and is of course, pure veg.
