InOnIt Guides: Late Night Food Joints In Mumbai
The significance of late night food joints in Mumbai is going to shoot up very soon! The monsoons are here and Mumbai will soon take pride in doing all things Monsoon-y, however clichéd, stereotypical or even filmy they may be. Owing to the great demands of the weekdays, it isn’t always possible to take umbrage in the scenic beauty of our go-to places of this season. Sometimes aimlessly driving late night around Mumbai after a hard night of partying can also serve the same purpose. With no pedestrians to take care of, no honks to be annoyed at and no signals to be slaves of, the beauty of rains at this time will shine through. We also know that a late night drive, leads to some insane hunger pangs. So, here’s our list of late night food joints in Mumbai. Happy midnight snacking, you’ll!
Who hasn’t heard of Bademiya? Yes, I know the answer to that, it was a rhetorical question. Serving hungry and more often than not, greedy stomachs for about two generations now, Bademiya is one of your best bets to get yummy food in the middle of the night. Tucked away in a bylane in Colaba Causeway, you don’t have to worry about parking here since you can basically park anywhere on the street. The Rolls, Kebabs and Rumali rotis are to die for and are perfect after a binging session in town.

There are days when the dinner that is cooked at home is as blah as a Monday morning. Or there are days when you’ve simply been out partying for so long that the alcohol has now dried your mouth and emptied your stomach. Mughal Sarai has been catering to people with and without such excuses for a while now. Located at a walking distance from the Bandra station on the western side, Mughal Sarai serves some simply brilliant Mughlai food.

This might go without saying but the ‘pind style’ food from this place is one of the most sought for in Mumbai. Mini Punjab stays true to its name as it delivers juicy chicken tikka kebabs and spicy mutton raras with much flourish. Folks from our office also seemed to be big fans of the Prawns roll, Mushroom roll and the Biryani!

Is there anything that’s bad about this place? I have heard and seen for myself people raving about the food, the service, the value for money and everything else in between. Is it any wonder then that Tawa Hut is so popular among Mumbaiites? Because it stays open till midnight (I am sure that’s because the orders never stop pouring in), did Tawa Hut make it to our list. But the other thing special about this place is the mini meals that they do, in perfectly packed boxes that make it oh so convenient to eat!

One of our absolute favourite late night food joints in Mumbai is Rajput. It is a takeaway joint with no ambience to speak of and no sitting arrangement. The car tops being your substitute for tables, we know that their menu only consists of some Chinese options and Pav Bhaji (obviously one of the most bizarre combinations we’ve come across), but we also do know that whatever they serve is finger-licking, lip-smacking good. When you are chilling with your friends post-midnight and you fancy a hunger-pang overcoming you, the Chicken Lollypop and Chicken Salty Rice will come to your rescue as you sit in the car or hang out by the pavement. Psst: Rajput officially closes down at midnight and unofficially at 4.30 am!
Open Till: 4:30 am
Address: Shop no. 10, Ground floor, Parekh Mahal, L J Road, Dadar (W), Shivaji Park, Mumbai
Much can be said about the place that promises yummy food but fails to deliver it promptly. Not the place to go to if you are dying of hunger, this place can be visited when you have ample time on your hands and a large group of friends to entertain you while you wait for your food to arrive! Their Prawns Fry and Afghani gosht seem to have a lot of followers when it comes to late night food in Mumbai.

For the people living in the vicinity, Sheetal is literally the knight in shining armour when your hunger pangs are louder than the music blaring from your headphones. One thing folks can’t stop raving about when it comes to Rhythm is the free Gulab Jamuns you get more often than not! With deals like order for Rs. 500 or more and get a dessert or a 1.5l bottle of Pesi free, Rhythm’s attraction levels are doubled. When you are so famished you feel like a refugee from a drought-heavy area, in the middle of the night, their home delivery services are working in full swing.
