InOnIt Guides: Quick Service Restaurants in Mumbai
In a fast-paced city like Mumbai, it is almost mandatory to have restaurants that serve good food in milliseconds. Think of it kind of like street food meets fast food meets restaurant. Fast food joints that have limited table service and seating, and serve delicious food for people on the go, that’s what a typical quick service restaurant is like. We list down some such eateries with different cuisines such as Italian, Bengali, Asian, Lebanese, American and the likes that will serve you fresh, hot food within minutes, which you can readily take back home or to office, or quickly munch on while you’re there. Note: the meals are quite pocket friendly yet very satisfyingly full. So read on and satiate those cravings!
A new addition to the fast food scene in Bandra, Between Breads has already got a fan following for its big, juicy subs, sliders, hot dogs and sandwiches. This quirky little joint’s interiors are enough to describe what the menu would feature. It comes straight out of an Archies comic book, with big sliders popping out of the walls. So much so that they even have Archies books lying around while you wait for your hot buns to arrive. We might just go there, only to relive our school days of Betty and Veronica shenanigans. The burger list includes chicken or beef cheeseburgers, aloo patty, double meat ones and more, while the sandwich list includes turkey, Philly cheese chicken, roasted peppers and the likes. You can also select dishes from the chef’s special that include the BLT, veg pesto, tuna melt, baked hamwich or dig into a hot dog that is served in chicken or pork. Drool much? A burger here would cost you somewhere between Rs. 150 and Rs. 300 depending on your choice of stuffing.

Started by the owner of Busaba, Nikhil Chib, BusaGo is your go-to place for a quick Asian meal. The menu here is limited to veg and non veg momos (which are delightfully soft, fresh and warm), stir fried veggies, curries such as the Burmese Kaukswe and red and green Thai curry and add ons such as rice, tofu and the likes. Your meal here will be light and flavourful, and we love how they have different sauces made by Nikhil such as the sweet chilli one on every table, to add amazing spice and flavour to any of your dishes. We’ve wiped off our plates here before. However, while our home delivery order of the kaukswe and red curry was quite disappointing, we loved the momos and green curry with tofu while we were there.

If you love Bengali cuisine, you will love Bong Bong for its very bong interiors and food. The place is really tiny, with 4 tables squished inside and a few outside without much leg or walking space in between. Either way, you’re lucky if you find a table here on a weekend night. You will see an old Murphy radio, a bicycle and retro bong music playing in the background. But you will also find the loudness of the banging door and conversations from the next table a bit annoying, unless you’re an eavesdropper. So we suggest you pick up a meal-to-go because we love their savoury dishes such as the Herbed Chicken Money Bags and spicy meals like the Mutton in Spicy Yoghurt Sauce.

From carnivores to herbivores, Swati Snacks is famous for traditional vegetarian dishes but we doubt that only the veggie lovers will venture into the restaurant. The Panki and Fada Ni Khichdi are absolute favourites here and you can indulge in some sweet Jalebis, hand churned ice-creams and papdi for Sunday breakfasts.

It’s only fair to include Pronto, which literally means ‘quick’ in our list of QSRs. Creamy pastas and cheesy pizzas at pocket friendly prizes is what you will find here, apart from salads, soups and sandwiches. They also have a choice of main course and desserts but we suggest you get their pizzas. Pronto has outlets all over Mumbai. Click here to view their Facebook page for the addresses.
Pico Express that is based on the concept of ‘grab and go’ serves healthy and fresh meals. Choose from salads, pastas, mains, sandwiches, wraps, beverages and desserts. Their pesto pasta is light and not overcooked and we often call for their banofee pie to brighten up a long working day.
Started by Moshe Shek, this Middle-Eastern cuisine take-away joint is right opposite the Carter road promenade. Here you will get a shwarma for Rs. 150 and other kebab rolls along with salads and beverages. Sufra also has Arabic styled roast chicken and falafels, and desserts that include the famous Baklava. The shwarma is more hygienic compared to the roadside shwarma stalls in Bandra, but it can get a little too dry for your liking. With extra sauce and pickle, you will be good to go. they have tiny tables and chairs, if you’re looking to grab a quick bite after a long stroll.
