There is nothing better than special Ramadan food in Mumbai. Thus, there is never a better time for a foodie than the month of Ramadan (Wednesday 10th July, to Thursday 8th August 2013 this year). Traditionally called Iftar, the evening meal is partaken after sunset. The fast is usually broken with dates, fruits, tea, meat and sweetmeats. Neel at Tote on the Turf
Until Wednesday, August 7, 2013 you can feast on delicacies such as Paya Awadhi Shorba, Gosht Shikampuri, Nizami Haleem, Gucchi Taal Makhana, Gurda Kheema Laziz, Gosht Kofta Biryani, Malpua and much more at the the Nawabi restaurant. For those who love mishtaans, Chef Mukhtar Qureshi’ s menu features Ramadan desserts such as Malai Sheer Biraanj, Shahi Nawabi Tukda, and Chandani Malpua.

For those who prefer fast food, Bandra’s new snack shop Karlito’s serves halal snacks like Chicken Pattice, Chicken Lollypops, Chicken Spring Rolls, Kebabs and Biryani. They serve desserts like caramel custard too. Karlito’s is open from 11am to 11pm daily.

Souk, The Taj Mahal Palace
Help yourself to a traditional Iftar menu at Souk from July 9, 2013 to August 7, 2013. A special menu at Souk will serve a selection mezzes like Fattoush, Toros salad and Lamb dolma along with grills like Rubian meshwi, Reesh khrouf, Samak meshwi and Sheesh taouk. The entrees include mouth-watering dishes like the Roze ouzie, Momazalet patata bil lahm complemented with an assortment of breads and pickles and Umm ali, Baklawa, Muhallabia, Knafi jibni or a platter of fruits and dates for dessert.
The buffets are priced at Rs. 1195 to Rs. 1695 (plus tax) per person and is served between 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Juhu’s new take-away and delivery joint is offering a traditional Iftar Thaal available for the entire Ramzaan period. The Jantar Mantar staff will arrange the Thaal in your home, which will consist of five types of kebabs with Mutton Biryani and saalan. The Thaal can feed up to twelve people and will cost between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 15,000 depending on the food items you choose. Noor Mohammadi Hotel
