InOnIt Guides: The Best Beer Bars in Mumbai

With great power comes great responsibility. And with great humidity comes a volley of beer bars in Mumbai.  For those who missed the title, this list is about the best beer bars in Mumbai. Why, you ask? Because rock might crush scissors, scissors might decapitate lizard and lizard might poison spock, but beer beats everything. Everything.

The Barking Deer

Promising to turn you into a prancing, galloping young animal that gossips and giggles and hoots and huddles, The Barking Deer place is a hot fave amongst the youngsters who belong to the drinking age. With beer names such as Weihenstephaner Heffe Weissbier, Liefmans Fruitesse Fruitibier, Estrella Dam and more, this is the place to play a game of Pronounce It Right!

Woodside Inn

One of my old time loves, countless hours can be spent here, catching up with your best girl, drinking mugs and mugs of beer, options of which are many! But what gets you really high is the delicious spread of bar as well as non-bar food at Woodside Inn. You will definitely wish for your stomach to expand a tiny bit more when it hits you that you are now full with everything that you’ve been bingeing on. What’s more? You can even hop, skip and jump your way to Colaba Causeway for an impromptu trip of street shopping.

Toto’s Garage

The motto at Totos seems to be getting wasted on lots of cheap beer. Perfect and popular amongst college-goers for this exact same reason, Toto’s Garage has become something of an iconic landmark in Bandra. Expect to encounter everything from Aerosmith to Guns N Roses to Linkin Park and even Savage Garden here as the music dances to no ones tunes but its own.

The White Owl

The newest, the prettiest micro-brewery in town, although the brewery was WIP when we’d visited, The White Owl is a promising young thing! Parked at Lower Parel, it’s soon going to be the hub of all young workaholics. With a glorious brewery that they can call their own, they will be cooking some yummy beers here, which will be served to you fresh from the oven.

The Irish House

A place that endorses hard core pub culture, the people of Mumbai have warmly welcomed The Irish House with an open embrace. Flamboyant and boisterous, this place is meant for the younger generation who aren’t afraid to have a good time even if it means being silly and loud. The Angrezi Pub

Far, far away from Mumbai is a brand new pub that you just cannot miss. Everything about the theme being classic British, they have home decor items such as Rotary Style Telephone, Oak furniture and floral, old themed chandeliers to their credit. With a decent variety in beer and a section of mocktails and food cordoned off to being Angrezi, this place is next on our list to visit!

Cafe Ideal

An Iranian cafe gone swanky, Cafe Ideal is the coolest place to be at when chilling in town. Quite literally. Because the view of the beach at Girgaon Chowpatty and the breeze that comes in remains unmatched. Moderately priced bevy of beers, the ambience, the view and the lively, friendly service is all very good. But what makes it stand apart is that this might be one of the last remaining places that plays Desi Hindi music of the late 80s and the early 90s.

I know it is completely redundant, to mention the places that first got this beer groove on, but I am going to mention Leopold and Mondegar anyway. I mean those are the places we need to express our gratitude to, right?
