Red Carpet Fashion: Acing the Metallic Grey Gowns

What really caught my attention this fall is all that shimmer that has been doing the rounds on and off the runway. The metallic trend is definitely here to stay and is not just limited to extravagant red carpet events. While I am not a fan of too much bling, I love how metallic pieces have made their way to every girl’s wardrobe just in time for the party season.

From shiny shorts to sequinned dresses, embellished tops to sparkling peeptoes, it is now a wardrobe must-have for those glamorous evenings.

The key to wearing metallic clothing and accessories is to balance out the whole look. I like to call this act ‘subdued flamboyance’. You really can rock this trend if you know where to draw the line. You don’t want to look like a discoball and blind everyone who crosses your path. What you want to be is a smooth angel lighting up that path and leaving behind a glamorous glint.

If you can pull it off of course, go fully metallic with a sequinned dress. Keep it balanced by wearing subtle makeup and absolutely no blinged accessories.

The safest way to bring that metallic magic is by making one piece of your outfit do all the talking. Add on a pair of shiny new metallic heels to a plain black outfit, or put on some glinting statement jewellery to shine on through the night.

Metallics are all the rage now, so make sure you have one (if not all) of these styles in your closet for the party season!
