MFF 2012- The World Through Cinema

Hail the Italian cinema, have a rendezvous with the French and pin your ears back to pay heed to the voices of Afghan. The Mumbai Film Festival is back this year with its 14th edition with a massive line up of over 200 movies from 65 countries. Mark your calendars for 18th to 25th October to catch titles like Fellini’s Casanova, The Last Day of Pompeii, Joyful Reunion, Augustine along with a special compendium of films from Afghanistan and a segment on reinstated classics from around the world.

What we think will allure you to the festival is the screening of Indian silent films like Kaliya Mardan, Raja Harishchandra, Marthand Varma, Throw Of Dice, Sati Savitri, Jamai Babu, Galliant Heart and others, that will be accompanied by live orchestra.

Apart from the screenings, the festival will also see master classes on direction, cinematography, acting, editing and pitching and screenplay writing. The 8 days festival will also see competitions across various genres and the country’s first panel discussion on restoration and preservation of films.

The venues for the festival this year are National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and Inox, Nariman Point; Liberty Cinemas, Marine Lines as the main venues and Cinemax, Sion and Andheri as the satellite venues.
