Mumbai Gears Up For Literature Live 2012
Literature goes live again this year as the city gears up for the 3rd edition of its much-awaited festival. The Mumbai LitFest is scheduled to be held from 31st October to 4th November this year. It’s a 5 day festival in the city with over a 100 writers expected to be at the event. The Third Mumbai International Literary Festival will see novelists across different genres, poets, writers and thinkers, which include 30 who will be from abroad.
Apart from the regular informal interactions with book launches and book signings, the festival has included a bunch of new things this year. The festival will include parallel sessions at the Little Theatre on all five days that will have intimate readings, discussions and talks on poetry and more. The festival will also organise workshops this year on all days. These will be held at The Audio Visual Room where two workshops will be held every day on poetry, fiction, non-fiction and plays among others. However, seats are limited to 15 to 25 participants and will require pre-registration.
The festival will also see performances linked to literature which would include performances by Shakespeare R&B by London –based group, Akala, which presents Shakespeare in hip hop styles, Chris Larner’s poignant play, An Instinct for Kindness and Naseeruddin Shah’s enactment of Vikram Seth’s poems from The Beastly Tales among others.
Also, considering last year’s turnout, the festival has been extended to Godrej Theatre where audience can catch the live feed on a big screen. Get the entire schedule here. Check LitLive’s website or keep a tab on the festival through Facebook.
