Things You Should Never Say to a Curly Haired Girl
Not everyone is blessed with curly hair and curls can be very intriguing to those who don’t have them. While we are thrilled (and somewhat amused) at a non curly haired persons enthusiasm towards our hair, some behaviour can get obnoxious and somewhat rude. Fret not, we are here to help. Keep in mind these things you should never say to a curly girl and avoid her Medusa like gaze.
Is your hair naturally curly?
You should know that there is a difference between curly hair and curled hair. If the hair on my head is not natural then I should definitely fire my hair stylist.
Can I touch it?
I just spent a fair amount of my waking hours trying to tame the angry beast. But by all means, go ahead, poke and prod at it.
I wish I had hair like you.
Of course you do. Curly hair has a charm of its own. But curly haired girls take years to accept their hair and learn how to manage it. You are not ready for that kind of time and effort.
Gosh, your hair looks so much better straight
You think this is a compliment, but it sounds like a thinly veiled insult. You should know that you are a hair racist.
Do you have a hairbrush?
No. This is what happens when we try to brush our hair.
You should visit my hairdresser.
We know you are just trying to help and your hairstylist might be great with straight hair but there are only a handful of stylists who can cut curly hair well. So unless you are a fellow curly girl who just had an awesome hair cut, you should STFU.
My hair is super frizzy too.
Umm…Yeah, sure it is honey.
Why don’t you get it straightened?
Psh! And what? End up with super boring straight hair? No thank you.
Your hair is obstructing my view.
Well your face is damaging my eyes. What are you going to do about that?
Well hey there Maggi noodles.
If only I had a penny for every time someone said this.
If I stick a pen in your hair, will it will stay there?
I have a better idea. Why don’t we stick it up your nose and see if it stays there?
But don’t worry, nothing you ever say will upset us. Because curls are fabulous and we love them.
If you have curly hair learn now to care for them here.
