Especially this time around, as the whole city gears up for Oktoberfest! Based on the original concept and fair held annually for 16 days at Munich, Bavaria and Germany, Oktoberfest 2013 in Mumbai is looked forward to by all beer guzzlers in the city, and they sure consume copious amounts of this golden beverage that is available in many varieties everywhere (enough to last them through the year!). Mahalaxmi Race Course, 29th November 2013
The biggest model of Oktoberfest in Mumbai is held every year at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. The whole space is transformed on that one day, filled with happy beer-filled bellies and exciting revelry. A host of activities such as music, dance, Oktoberfest food and unlimited beer can be enjoyed through the day in the ‘Beer Garden’ under the open sky. Co-ordinate with your buddies and book a table for ten people, or individual seats on a table that will cost Rs. 3,434 per person. Closer to the date, table numbers will be allotted and passes and meal vouchers can be collected.

The Daily, 29th September to 10th October
Celebrate Oktoberfest at The Daily in Bandra and dedicate two weeks of your life to the love of your life – beer! Every day during those dates, between 7 pm and 1:15 am, indulge in an array of special dishes for Oktoberfest such as German sausages, pretzels and potato salad. Of course, that will be accompanied with a lot of beer, 14 different types to be precise, and also cocktail buckets for the non-beer drinkers. The music will vary from Bavarian folk to retro rock through the evening. Enjoy a host of drinking games such as beer pong, flip cup and more, while trying out traditional Bavarian food and drinks. The décor, too, has been made authentic to suit the carnival, with the roof turning into an Oktoberfest tent. Dress your bona fide best (in true Bavarian style Dirndl dresses and Lederhosen), as you stand to win goodies! Beer-y good!

Blue Frog, 21st September to 6th October
Mumbai’s hub for some of the best music gigs, Blue Frog is hosting Oktoberfest till 6th October 2013. With a German food menu that includes shnitzels and spaetzle, offers on imported beers and special gigs every night, there is no need to fly to Germany for this gala event. During their happy hours from Tuesday to Sunday between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, you can buy one beer and get the second one free of cost. In October, celebrate like the Germans!

BellyFest at High Street Phoenix, 18th October
Now if you’re a true beer drinker, High Street Phoenix will have you proving that on 18th October 2013. In association with Crossbar Entertainment, they bring to you “Belly Fest”, a large-scale beer gaming festival that starts at 2pm. Trial rounds will go on till early evening, followed by knock-out stages. You can register with your friends in teams of 3 people, and participate in rounds of Beer Pong, Flip Cup, Toss the Coin, Bong Chug, Flippy Cup, Beer Helmet and Pyramid. A team pass for Oktoberfest at HSP can be purchased here and costs Rs. 3,000. Live performances, experience and talent zones, a flea market of quirky beer goodies and food stalls will be a part of the BellyFest.

Out of the Blue, Bandra, 27th September to 6th October
Out of the Blue restaurant in Bandra is hosting a ten-day festival that will start from 7:30 pm onwards. Beer games will be a major part of the fest, with interesting names like Beer Milkha (a game to find the fastest beer-drinker), Millers Milkha, Ring the Indus Pride Bottle, Fortune Wheel and more. Winners will receive beer gifts every day and each day’s champion will be eligible to participate in the finale game on 6th October 2013. The champion will get gifts by Foster’s/Millers, vouchers by the restaurant and will be bestowed with the Beer Milkha Hat.
