Our Fave Trends From LFW Winter Festive 2013
Here is a round up of our fave trends from LFW Winter Festive 2013
Innovative spin on sarees
This season of LFW saw many a creative spin on the classic, sexy saree. From sarees cinched with studded belts to patchwork prints and substituting blouses with bright, collared shirts and experimental draping- we saw it all! Most of them looked super stylish, among our fave are the half-and-half sarees by Sabyasachi which he uniquely teamed with striped blouses and the cool colour blocked saree by SOUP.
We saw some cutting-edge aspects from certain designers for some fun, futuristic fashion. Amit Aggarwal presented a collection rich in metallic stripes and funky headgear that created a modernistic theme. Siddharth Aryan’s geometric crystal prints accentuated with stones made for a very space-age chic collection. Love the edgy cuts and the artistic, geometric prints.
Ritu Kumar gave us the fun, flirty cape as a must-have for the coming winter season. Not only does it have a mysterious charm about it, but the flowing silhouette just adds to its allure. Anushka Manchanda gave us an appearance in an interesting cape by Nikhil Thampi while attending the shows, in a style that can be worn all year round. Don’t you just love them?
From Quirk Box’s trademark playful patterns to Ken Ferns’ trees and bird prints from his moonrise inspired collection and Nikhil Thampi’s Kathakali motifs, it was prints galore. Sabya’s delicate floral patterns, vibrant and zesty Aztec prints by Global Desi, Ranna Gill’s tropical digital prints and Pria Kataaria Puri’s artistic and colourful patterns were some of the trendiest ones that we will definitely see more of off the runway.
One of my fave collections from the entire week was Arpita Mehta’s ‘The Violet Collection’ that was dominated by beautiful floral prints, swirling silhouettes and of course plenty of purple. True to her trademark style, the designs were rich in gorgeous mirrorwork entwined with intricate thread work on cholis, jackets, bustiers and borders. These shiney yet tasteful embellishments totally dazzled us and have gone on our lust lists for our desi wardrobes. Love the work on Soha’s show stopping outfit.
