What made you start Pipa & Bella?
Having been in the jewellery industry for many years, Komal and I wanted to create a business that went beyond just providing a good quality product. After much research we felt that there was a strong business case for a direct selling channel within the jewellery industry. The Indian social dynamic is designed for social & personal shopping. What we’re doing is combining the best of technology, e-commerce and personal service to create a unique shopping experience for the customer. In addition, our business model gives women an opportunity to launch their own jewellery business. Our goal is to create fashion entrepreneurs, who run their own business their own way and don’t have to worry about huge investments, inventory issues, or day-to-day hassles.
How did the name Pipa & Bella come about?
We wanted our brand to reflect the modern Indian woman and her ability to carry her own style confidently. Pipa in colloquial Spanish means “to have fun” – ie representing someone who is adventurous, spunky, a bull in a China shop; Bella in Italian is someone who is generally organized, demure, classic, and graceful. The idea is that we’re all a little bit of both, but can most likely relate to one more than the other. Our products reflect the same diversity – from bold, statement pieces to delicate, simple & classic pieces.

Our Stylists are the most important part of our unique and personal shopping experience. They have been trained by our fashion and styling team to help you pick out items that best suit your needs.
Who can become a stylist? What is the criteria for being a Pipa & Bella stylist and what are the benefits?
Anyone with a passion to become a fashion entrepreneur and is looking for a flexible career opportunity can become a Stylist. We don’t have any specific criteria, except that they should plan to organize a trunk show within the first month of their becoming a Stylist. We help our Stylists through the process and have monthly training sessions to guide them on how to increase their own business.
The starter kit costs Rs. 1,299 and with this we offer a Rs. 5000 credit to buy their initial samples. This is generally about 8-9 pieces of jewellery. Anything above and beyond, is offered at 50% off for the first personal purchase and 30% for all subsequent personal purchases. For all trunk show & non-trunk show sales (eg: online sales), our Stylists earn a commission.

How often do you come out with a new collection? Can you give us a sneak peek into your next collection and future plans?
We launch a new collection every 3 months and we’re very excited about our next collection this Spring.
What is your personal favourite item of jewellery from Pipa & Bella?
It’s hard to pick one, they are all our babies. But if we had to pick one, I’d say it would be the “Shanghai Tassle Pendant Necklace.” It has a strong balance between it’s bold composition and delicate detailing. It was inspired by the art deco era, a time when architecture, art, and jewelry were so elegantly adventurous for it’s time.
Which celebrity would you love to see carrying off a Pipa & Bella accessory?
We would love to see Sameera Reddy or Kalki Koechlin in Pipa & Bella. Not only are they beautiful, but more importantly, they are confident in being different. Their style personality sets them apart from the rest.
