Just when we thought Bandra’s nightlife couldn’t get any heavier, yet another resto-lounge came and shocked us all. Shockk, started by Naveen Prem and Mohammed Fasih is a huge space spread over 14,000 square feet and has replaced Mumbai Times Café in Bandra. With two levels of a dining area, bar and banquet, this enormous lounge was bustling with socialites on its launch night.
The silence in the lift is broken as soon as the door opens to lead you straight inside the club. You will see a central bar that gives a very Middle Eastern vibe with pretty lamps and chandeliers in yellow and red hanging in the centre (only two really gorgeous Arabic belly dancers would’ve completed that sight). There is also a small terrace section and a massive dance floor that has a VIP area.
The lounge will have live performances of upcoming artistes in the future.
In food, expect a mix of traditional Italian, Oriental and French influences. We loved their Lebanese chicken that was tender and juicy with a generous topping of sour hummus.
The cocktails menu looks promising with classic and avant-garde ones like Brazilian Haze, Jack Your Melon, Coconut Bounty, Nutty Martini and King of all Islands.
Although the place looks a bit confused with so many things happening at the same time- dining, open kitchen, loud music, bar, dance floor and the likes, Shockk will definitely add some jazz to Bandra’s already buzzing nightlife.
