If your weakness is street food, then how glad are you that you live in Mumbai? Every corner of this city has a unique little eatery that has some history behind it. And momos are now an integral part of the street food mix – what with momo stations being sprung up everywhere.
While walking on Hill Road on a busy day, we spotted a very tiny bright red board with the words ‘O! Momos
’ written on it in striking yellow. This take-away momo joint is opposite Cheap Jack, if you’re trying to figure. Hunger pangs immediately kicked in, so we browsed through the menu to find interesting options of chicken momos such as schezwan, Shanghai, chicken cheese and chilly chicken momos. The veg section consists of mix veg, corn cheese, spinach corn cheese, paneer chilli and creamy mushroom momos. We opted for a plate of steaming chicken momos that came in 6 pieces – warm and soft with subtle flavours. The chilli red sauce was spicy and tangy, while the mysterious black sauce (that we later found out was made out of soya sauce) was a bit too strong and pungent for our liking. What we liked was that the momos are freshly steamed so you will have to wait for a good ten minutes for your plate.
O! Momos has outlets in Bandra, Andheri, Kandivali and Thane and they provide home delivery at an extra charge of Rs. 10. A plate of chicken momos would cost you between Rs. 60 and Rs. 80 and veg ones will cost you between Rs. 50 and Rs. 75.
