Style Spotting on Day 4 Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2013
Capes are hot for winter
Ritu Kumar presented a strong collection of winter wear, western wear with heavy embellishments and desi wear consisting of gorgeous salwaar suits and tiered anarkalis. Since it is a ‘Winter Festive’ event, the belted coats and flowing capes really caught my eye. In a city like Mumbai, a coat is not practical however cute they may be, but a cape is perfect for our type of ‘winter’. It provides just the right amount of warmth and can be paired with dresses and pants and let’s not forget just how stylishly sexy they look. A definite must-have this cold season.
Mixing shirts, jackets and peplum with Indianwear looks better that you would have thought
An eye-popping collection of bright colours, but what grabbed our attention the most in Rahul Mishra’s line were the twists he brought to traditional Indian outfits. Like Manish Malhotra presented collared shirts paired with lehenga skirts at his opening show, Rahul also used shirts in the same way. Colourful shirts were worn with fun sarees while some sarees were also worn with belted jackets on top. Lehengas were paired with peplum tops for a look that didn’t appear half as bad as you would imagine.
The village belle look is hot
The Indian version of ikat, the patan patola weave which is part of our rich heritage, worked it’s magic on us all at Gaurang’s show. The Demure met sexy in beautiful, colourfully weaved sarees. The maang tikka, bindi and 3 dots just added to the magic of the whole look. Absolutely loved the prints and colours.
Cool headgear and lots of sparkle
We’re really digging the headgear the models had on while walking down the ramp for Vivek Kumar. An attention-grabbing way to accessorize any kind of look, it can definitely add an edge to your style whether your hair is tied or left loose. Also, his creations had plenty of glitter and bling that looked more tasteful than over the top. He showed us how sparkle should be done.
Coloured chinos and printed jackets
Not sure how many guys would be willing to wear something like this and how many can actually pull it off, but Aditya Roy Kapoor sure looked dashing in this getup as the showstopper for Barkha ‘n’ Sonzal’s debut colelction for LFW. Colourful chinos and a fun quirky jacket. What’s not to love?
