IT: is the second solo show by critically acclaimed artist Shine Shivan

A series of site-specific sculptures invested with characteristic elemental and prehistoric dynamism of which the material itself is the essence.

His unusual placement of objects compels the audience to interpret things from an entirely different perspective disregarding preset notions.

Shivan’s artistic practice attempts to excavate and redefine the psychological constructs, experiences and roles attached to masculinity. He works with a variety of found natural materials from the forest lands of Haryana, such as deer faeces, chirchita seeds, animal bones, quail eggs, birds and bird-feathers. Through the arrangement of seemingly unrelated articles, he creates astonishing imagery and poem-objects.

About the artist: Shine Shivan is from Kerala. His video work has been shown internationally at ‘Move on Asia 2010’, Tate Modern, London, UK, Gallery Loop, Seoul, Korea and at MOCA Taipei, in Taipei, Taiwan. He debuted with a solo show, ‘SpermWeaver’, at Gallery Maskara.
