Summer 2014: Time To Flaunt Your Shades Of Grey
Grey has been associated with half positive-half negative somethings, but this is an era where we love all shades of grey. Not a usual spring/summer hue, we’ve seen it predominant on the runways and on the streets.
On The Ramp
From L-R: Burberry, Chanel, Nina Ricci, Saint Laurent
Spring/Summer 2014 Ready-to-Wear runways were surprisingly overflowing with shades of grey, be it paloma, anthracite or russian. Designers like Chanel, Gareth Pugh, Burberry, Saint Laurent and Nina Ricci exhibited ensembles heavily using the shade. From pant suits to dresses to pullovers, it was all over the ramp.
Michael Kors’ SS14 collection made use of the shade the most, as it remained predominant in the color story. Dresses, shorts, matching separates as well grey-and-gold swimsuits rocked the runway at Michael Kors’ ss14 show.
On The Celebs
From L-R: Kate Middleton, Chitrangada Singh, Zoe Saldana
We know Kate Middleton is by all means a trend setter. Whatever she does or wears goes globally viral. And when she wears a grey dress so pretty, all the ladies are bound to follow suit. Our very own Chitrangada herself rocks the light anthracite midi skirt with a white crisp shirt and don’t we just love the combo? Zoe Saldana on the other hand wears a grey mini bodycon dress.
On The Streets
The street style is flooded with grey as fashionistas ditch a bright color palette for subtle tones. A voluminous monotone dress, a jumpsuit or a casual grey tee with shorts and knee high boots- how would you wear your shade of grey?
Our Verdict: We love grey for two reasons, one that it makes you look leaner and second would be that it exudes elegance and sophistication. Like black, one can never go wrong with this one.
Unless you look like this…
Or like this…
If you choose a dress that is trying it’s best to hold your cellulite together like Kim K’s, no matter what shade it is, you won’t look slim. And if you want to look casual chic and decide to wear a grey pull over, make sure atleast your bottoms aren’t that shabby. Emma Roberts, we hope you’re listening!
