Things-to-do: Garage Sales And Weekend Workshops

Engage yourself in workshops this weekend or watch a play that delves into human relationships by unravelling its funnier side and a garage sale for a good cause. All this and more in this week’s listing.

13th – 14th October, 2012: Catch the humorous play, Salt and Pepper that delves into human relationships and unravels its funnier side. Directed by Vikranth Pawar, watch ten stories of ten different individuals unfold in front of you. The play will be performed on 13th October at Tata Theatre at 7:30 pm and on 14th October at St. Andrews at 7:30 pm. Tickets range from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,500. For booking, call 9820336464. 20th October: Join artist Atul Dodiya at his studio as he talks about the development of his work and his wide-ranging views. Also on display will be a range of selected works of art. The discussion will take place from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs. 750 for Asia Society members and Rs. 1,000 for others that include refreshments and transportation. RSVP at


13th – 14th October: Contemporary Arts and Crafts are hosting a workshop for children over the weekend. The workshop will commence with a book reading by Jerry Pinto on Saturday, 13th October from 6:00 pm onwards. On Sunday, 14th October, CAC will host an interactive workshop on craft using recycled materials. Open to kids aged 6 years and above, the workshop will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Participation on first come first served basis.

13th – 14th October: Workshop Buffet is organising two workshops over the weekend.  Katha Cues, the storytelling workshop will be held on 13th October between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Priced at Rs. 1,200 and with a limited number of 15 seats, the workshop will be conducted by Tarun Durga. Learn the art and craft or narrating the story where participants will also introduce themselves by narrating a story. More details here.

On Sunday, learn to grow veggies organically between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm. With a limited 30 seats, the workshop will be conducted by Karan Manral and Yogiita Mehra from green Essentials. More details here.

13th – 14th October: Gostana, Bandra is playing host to a charity garage sale for the education of tribal girls. Browse through apparel, belts, bags and other accessories at this one day sale that will take place from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Cards won’t be accepted.

16th and 17th October: Designer Shouger Merchant Doshi will be showcasing her collection in Crescent Moon exhibition at the World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade. Look forward to cocktail lehengas, zipper sarees, anarkalis and more that are priced from Rs. 7,500 onwards. The exhibition will take place from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
