Things-To-Do: Goan Spices And Thai Curries

It seems like the days are dragging on to the weekend and there is less to do with every passing week. So to spice it up, we got plenty of things in this week’s listing which range from food to dance shows, and a quiz contest for deaf students to a tribute to one of the greatest Hindustani classical musicians to grace India.

Starting with food, Lake View Cafe has a special Goan culinary festival running from 20th February until 4th March. Every evening between 7 pm and midnight, you can enjoy Goan delights, prepared from authentic recipes that use coconut milk, tamarind, spices, kokam, vinegar, rice and curries, ranging from main courses to desserts, cocktails and more. Koh by Kittichai introduces The Koh’nversational Lunches which is apt for kitty parties and social gatherings. The set lunch has some delicious Thai delicacies prepared under the guidance of Chef Ian Kittichai.

For an exquisite drink, head to RainForest RestoBar which is now serving the cream of the crop in the Brandy range, the Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Cognac. Or try some fine wine at Bonobo as All Things Nice arranges a Wine Appreciation Programme on 25th February.

For an organised shopping spree, closer to home (for those staying in Lokhandwala), Sabi has a three day exhibition starting on 27th February, from 11 am to 8 pm, at Aakarshak Art Gallery opposite High Point. For details, call 31924744.

For lovers of classical Hindustani music, the 28th Prithvi Memorial Concert at Prithvi Theatre will have Ustad Zakir Hussain, Sabir Khan, Taufiq Qureshi, Rakesh Chaurasia, Rekha Bardwaj, Ranjit Barot and others paying tribute to Ustad Sultan Khan with a musical extravaganza on 28th February.

Chez Moi is celebrating the leap year with it’s One Night Only acoustic set which will feature a live performance by Mumbai-based Hindi rock band Airport on 29th February.

There will also be a performance organised by Sri Rajarajeshwari Bharatha Natya Kala Mandir at Shanmukananda Hall which will be followed by a film screening. The event will be held on 1st March and has free entry. For details on the event and invites, visit this website.
