Things-To-Do: Republic Day And Beyond

India celebrates its 63rd Republic Day on 26th January, 2012, and the only thing running through everyone’s heads collectively is, holiday!

But what to do for the holiday, a single day is not enough to get out of the city and get back in time to resume life the next day. But maybe a single day is enough to do a lot more.

For foodies who want to celebrate in desi spirit, Lake View Cafe has a special buffet of Tri Coloured delicacies which is priced between Rs. 1,450 and Rs. 1,800, depending on your beverage preferences.

MoMo Cafe in turn will be celebrating ‘Being Indian’, another buffet of tri-couloured dishes, priced at Rs. 900 for non-alcoholic and Rs. 1,250 for an alcoholic meal. They will also provide an additional discount of 15% to Armed Forces personnel. The restaurants Saffron and Lotus Cafe are celebrating the rich culture of India with a brunch consisting of recipes from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bengal, Awadh, Maharashtra and Goa.

RainForest Restobar also celebrates the spirit of Republic Day with cocktails, platters and desserts to relish. If shopping is on the cards this Republic Day, Bracialeto gives you a chance to show your patriotism with tri-coloured beaded jewelery.

Keeping up with the celebratory spirit after Republic Day, Mochi gives you a chance to rejoice with their end of season sale which starts from 26th January. The sale has a flat 50% discount on all merchandise in their stores. Yogurtbay is also offering its patrons new options with 32 toppings to decorate their frozen dessert.

Later this week, join in for Escobar’s Sunday Sundowns which will give you something to do on a lazy evening. A special offer this week allows women and couples to get a complementary Special Sundown Bucket if you enter before 7:30 pm.

Before the week ends, be sure to check out Mumbai’s First Ocean Championship which will feature surfski’s, dragonboats, kayaks, windsurfing, and other water sports. The event, organised by Rae Sports at H2O Chowpatty, will take place on 27th, 28th and 29th January and has free entry for all.
