Top 6 Bollywood Style Divas of 2013

As the year draws to an end, here’s my list of the top six Bollywood style divas who gave us applause-worthy moments as opposed to fashion blunders. Put your stylish sunnies on and get reading. Kareena Kapoor Khan

She’s gorgeous and she knows it. This particular Mrs Khan surely knows how to switch it on when it comes to making heads turn, needless to say, cameras too! She’s one of the best heroines in the industry today, and definitely made the cut to get on our most stylish women’s list. What I absolutely love about her sense of style is the ease with which she carries every kind of clothing – be it the sarees, the casual maxis or even being spotted at the airport in a pair of leggings. Like what she’s wearing? Check this out; you can totally rock that look, too! Deepika Padukone

Of course she had to be on the list! Is there really anyone that looks so effortlessly chic? Naturally, her super long limbs and sexy-as-hell height add to the oomph, but let’s not take away from her really beautiful face and amazing hair. Deepika can make a piece of rag look look like the work of an artist. With absolutely everything, from super-short shorts to curtain draped skirts, suiting her body type, she really is everyone’s favorite style diva. Katrina Kaif

After watching Dhoom 3 last night, all I can say is… sigh! This style icon may be the most conventional of them all, but nothing looks more sugar coated than her Barbie doll smile. With a drastic change in look, going from sugar syrup to red chilly, she surprised everyone through the movie. The biggest example I have of this look is how she carried off a super loose pair of dungarees in her debut sequence, and she still had me going “wow, she’s hot!!” Freida Pinto

Frieda Pinto, around 5’5″ tall, may not quite match up to Deepika’s height, but with her heels and oh-so-casual sense of carrying herself with such stylish elegance, she really is quite the diva. Having been titled as the official representative of the Indian female for Hollywood, every look of hers manages to be different and maintains a balance between desi style and western grace. This particular look of hers (picture above) is undoubtedly one of my favorite looks for her. Here she cinches her waist with a belt over an otherwise traditional saree and looks absolutely stunning. Kangana Ranaut

In a recent interview I saw of hers, the actor stated that she tries to compensate for the fact that she isn’t from Bollywood’s inner circle through her looks and style. She said with extreme nonchalance, that owing to the fact that she’s always been ridiculed for her accent, she found it important to make up in whatever other ways she could. Personally, I love how this ace actor presents herself, and carries herself with an unmeasurable amount of grace. She’s probably the only actor who experiments with her look so much without being particularly brand obsessed. If there was a record for playing around with your looks and hair-do the most, she would have probably bagged it by now. (I kept this one for last, with obvious reason) Sonam Kapoor

I really don’t think there’s much reason for me to go on about this one; is there? Sonam made her mark in the fashion sphere way before she got recognized as an actor, and she probably is still way better at her sense of style (and ability to Instagram) than her acting. She may be as brand-obsessed as she is, but with her big wardrobe budget, I’d say she really knows how to upgrade her game every now and then. And with that, she definitely makes it to the very top of my Bollywood fashion icons list!
