Bring A Touch Of Glam To Your Boring Ol’ Ponytail

Summer is here and we don’t blame you for just wanting to tie your hair up in a ponytail before venturing out. But why stick to the conventional when there are prettier ways to go about it? Here are 5 easy ways to spice up your boring old ponytail.

THE WRAPAROUND PONY

When you modernise the age-old ponytail, the wraparound hairstyle is what you get. Whether you’re in casuals or formals, this ponytail can be worn with absolute ease.

How to do it
1. Tie a normal ponytail. (It can be high or low, depending upon the look you want.)
2. Take a thin section of hair from the ponytail. This strip will be used for the wrap, so taking the longest hair section is always a good option.
3. Use the strip to wrap around the ponytail rubber band. Keep wrapping until you have reached the tip of the hair.
4. Tuck the hair tip under the rubber band in a way that it isn’t visible. Use bobby pins to keep it in place. Keep it neat and make sure the pins aren’t popping out.

THE SIDE-SWEPT PONY

This hairstyle is all about wearing your pony low and keeping it stylish. Worn straight or curly, the side-swept ponytail looks great both ways.

How to do it
1. Gather your hair to one side and tie a low ponytail.
2. The tail should rest on your shoulder. Let the shorter, free hair strands loose around your face.

THE POMPADOUR PONY

Go retro by wearing the pompadour ponytail—it adds volume to your hair and proves to be flattering for almost every face shape. This hairstyle works best on mid-length and long hair.

How to do it
1. Take the front section of your hair (preferably from ear to ear) and clip it.
2. Comb the remaining section to get rid of knots and tangles, making it smooth. Tie it tightly.
3. To get the perfect poof, unclip the front section and back-comb it to add more volume. While you can also use hairsprays here, we’d rather you go the natural way.
4. Once the poof is ready, pull it towards the ponytail and neatly secure it with a hair pin.

THE SIDE-BRAIDED PONY

The perfect amalgamation of a braid and ponytail, this hairstyle not only saves you from the summer but also makes your look more interesting. The braided ponytail is extremely versatile—it suits any kind of hair texture and can be worn in a high or low fashion.

How to do it
1. Make a side part and take a section of hair from the front left side of your part to your left temple.
2. Weave this section to make a braid and continue till it ends.
3. For the time being, tie this braid with a small rubber band.
4. Take the rest of your hair in a ponytail along with the braid and tie it all together. Remember to take off the small rubber band at the end.

Bring variations to this hairstyle by trying different types of braids like the fishtail and twist.

THE TWISTED PONY

If you’re up for a messy look, the twisted ponytail is surely for you. Give a fun twist to your ponytail by sporting this cute and casual hairstyle.

How to do it
1. Tie your hair in a low ponytail.
2. Leave a small section of your hair on one side untouched.
3. Make a gap in the middle of your hair above the tied area with your finger.
4. Twist the remaining section of the hair tightly and put it inside the gap.

Now that you have the hairstyles in place, add the final touch by accessorising them. Go ahead, get creative and save yourself from a boring hair day.
