The Fashionista’s 5 minute Shoe Dictionary

We may often ‘heart’ shoe stacks on Instagram or Pinterest or drool over the Jimmy Choo e-store. Come on, be honest; we know you adore footwear and would love a walk-in wardrobe like Carrie’s from SATC.

However, before you call yourself a true fashionista let me ask you the difference between mules and d’orsay. Lost? Well, we will take five minutes of your time and tell you the names of different types of shoes. Take a look and have a #shoegasm.


Types of Shoes

L to R:

Ballerina or Belles: The simplest and most comfortable flats. These are available in closed toe and peep toe varieties. Buy here: Rs.1399

Mary Jane: School shoes with a twist. Mary janes allow you to look girly without being too bold. Buy here: Rs.984

Ankle Strap: These are regular belles with an adorable strap near the ankles. Ideal for chubby ankles. Buy here: Rs.1197

Chappals: The desi version of flip flops. Get kolhapuri or regular ones for a traditional twist to your outfits. Buy here: Rs.995

Ankle Straps Closed Toe: These are heels that have a specific ankle strap. They are also available in peep-toe style. Buy here: Rs.1299

Peep-Toe D’Orsay: These are typically heels or flats that have a distinguished heel and toe cover without covering the arch. Buy here: Rs.1299

Chunky Heels: These are all the rage currently. Instead of a thin pencil heel, these shoes have box, cone and rectangle style heels. Buy here: Rs.1699
