While Joss fans around the city mourned the loss of one of the best Southeast Asian cuisine restaurants, the owner had others plans in the pipeline. Spread across 4,000 square feet is the new restaurant Umame by Farrokh Khambata
. Taking cue from the word umami, meaning the fifth taste representing something that is pleasantly savoury, the restaurant will serve Pan Asian cuisine

Carnivores have tiger rolls – creamy spicy shrimp with nori, spider rolls – soft shell crab, tuna tiradito, Singapore crab pau, Vietnamese crispy duck and more to choose from. For those who prefer to stay off meat, try the gheisha rolls – sweet potato and asparagus with jalapenos dressing, kung pao tofu with asparagus and chilli and more. The menu also has Joss Favourites that feature Mekong whisky flambéed prawns, barbecued cottage cheese, miso encrusted Chilean sea bass, Balinese clay pot and more for patrons.
