Our Verdict: Day 1 Of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2014
As the sun brought in another day, we knew it’s no ordinary one for Lakme Fashion Week has in store for us hours of fashion extravaganza. Which outfits were the most wearable? Which outfits should have taken a skip? Here’s our verdict.
Collection of the day: Tarun Tahiliani
Tarun Tahiliani’s collection presented ready-to-wear resort line in sorbet colors including indigo, mustard, fuschia and sunset hues. Kaftans, one-shoulder kurtis, chiffon saris-his collection best depicted the Indian summer especially with the gorgeous show stopper Jacqueline Fernandes.
Most Wearable: Nishka Lulla
Nishka Lulla’s collection exuded beauty, feminine charm and elegance in a range of pale pastels. Matching separates, sheer top layering a floral dress, bomber jacket, metallic jumpsuits, Nishka’s collection was not just wearable but something that would bring out the best of womanly magnificence.
International Love: Sounia Gohil
Sounia Gohil’s collection inspired by European Renaissance took us to a different time, a different place with a good aesthetic dose of art. Art-inspired prints on pencil skirts and tops, sheer over lay on skirts, head gears and beautifully braided hair updo enhanced the globally appealing looks of the ensembles.
Blah-Blah collection: Vaishali S
Vaishali S’s collection did little to hold our attention. We wouldn’t call the outfits disastrous but we always want something extra, right? Like innovative cuts, or a good mix of prints. Instant gratification? No, not really!
Prints of the Day: Quirk Box
When it comes to prints, it’s difficult to compete with the vivacity of Quirk Box. “Ikai” included printed dresses, shirts, kaftans, shorts, tunics, jackets, trousers as well as cover ups. Bright splash of colors, the quirk was right on!
