Our Verdict: Day 2 Of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2014
After a very fashionable start, our spirits were stirred up to experience the best of designs at Lakme Fashion Week. And so we did experience- fashion, art, design and a hell lot of fun.
Since you’ve been dying to know all the details, here’s our verdict.
Collection of the day: Gaurav Gupta & Mawi
When you go for a Gaurav Gupta show, you know it’s going to be nothing less than extraordinaire! The youngest couturier of India presented a series of space-age ensembles. The color palette remained unconventional with gold, copper, anthracite, flame orange and teal. A beautiful mix of sheer with solid, the outfits brought out the sensuousness of the female silhouette. Jumpsuits, gowns, bodysuits in metallic jersey predominated the show.
And when you combine it with Mawi’s stunning jewelry, the visual delight one experiences is beyond what words can define. Neckbands, gold ribbed collars, finger shields- all combined to give a feel of rare exotic appeal.
Most Wearable Collection: Dorothy Perkins
Jabong launched the British high street fashion brand Dorothy Perkins in India. Printed dresses, A-line skirts, chic blouses as well as bikinis and maillot swim suits in sorbet colors were major in the collection. A couple of metallic outfits, sneaked their way into the collection. And while we were keeping our fingers crossed to see Kangana as a show stopper, we’re glad she walked for Dorothy in a silver metallic gown.
Most Outrageous Collection: Sourabh Kant Srivastava
The jabong stage seemed to be flourishing with ultra fashion as Sourabh Kant Srivastava presented his couture and prêt line called “Rebirth in Kaliyug”. Embellished skirts, jackets, dresses, embellished leggings, gowns, and sarees predominated the show. The exaggerated head gears, gloves and masks looked outrageously sexy.
Prints Of The Day: Payal Singhal
Payal Singhal’s signature prints had a French-Moroccan influence this time in her collection called “Lady Sahara”. The printed outfits looked classy, elegant and eye catching.
Could-have-been-better Collection: Veda Raheja
Yes Veda, it could have been better. We hate to criticize, especially because a lot of hard work goes in crafting these garments for fashion shows. But really, these outfits are plain boring. Nothing fun or sexy about them.
