Vogue Beauty Awards 2014: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
The Vogue Beauty Awards always manage to draw out the who’s who of the Indian fashion industry—and this year was no different. This time, the Bollywood beauties opted for more glamorous looks, with their couture gowns and immaculate makeup. Luckily, there were more fashion hits than misses (unlike at the India Couture Week). Here is a list of our favourites (and those that didn’t quite hit the mark).
The ladies were dressed to impress, from the stunning bold cut-outs on the gowns of both Shilpa Shetty and Lisa Haydon to the elegant jumpsuit that Parineeti Chopra donned. Shaheen Abbas managed to rock the bright monotone and red lips with ease. Aditi Rao Hydari looked absolutely adorable in her retro-glam ensemble, while Kangana Ranaut pulled off yet another flawless look. That’s why we adore her!
We like the fabric and the colour of Kriti Sanon’s dress, but the one thing that bothers us is the length. It would’ve been more appealing if it was either a little shorter (midi-length) or longer (maxi-length). Nimrat Kaur’s sheer-bottomed dress is very pretty, but she ruined the attire with her heavy makeup. The outfit that Neha Dhupia is wearing fails to stir up any emotion in us. The only saving grace of the look, which otherwise would’ve been drab and boring, is the golden choker.
And now for our least favourite looks. Kajol, we love you, but this pantsuit disaster is just unforgivable. Next time, use this appearance of yours as an example of ‘what not to wear’. Ramona Narang’s white dress is ill-fitting and does absolutely nothing to accentuate her tiny waist. Model Rikee Chatterjee’s dress just looks flat. The top part is fine, but what’s going on at the bottom? Come on, ladies! We know you can do better than this.
