7 Easy (And Effective) Ways To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are the stripes that every woman dreads. They make you feel self-conscious and uncomfortable about your appearance and leave you wishing there was some way they would magically fade away. Stretch marks appear as lines or narrow streaks that develop on the skin’s surface and can vary from being light and barely visible to extremely prominent. They frequently appear on the thighs, buttocks, arms, abdomen and breasts.
Some people are a lot more prone to it than others, but it is just down to your inherited skin genes. Other factors include having naturally dry skin and, of course, low elasticity and collagen levels in your skin. However, if your stretch marks have appeared somewhere along the road, don’t despair—there are many stretch mark treatments available, some of which are very helpful and can easily be done at home.
Here are seven easy and effective ways to get rid of those stretch marks.
1) Olive, Lavender Or Almond Oil
Olive oil contains high levels of Vitamin E, which repairs the skin rapidly and encourages growth of new tissues. It is also rich in antioxidants and, when warmed slightly, improves blood circulation to the skin. Apply it three times a day to see your stretch marks fade away.
2) Aloe Vera
Apply aloe vera gel on the marks daily—they will initially lighten and finally remove the marks from the body. The gel also contains compounds that replenish the skin, as well as soothing and healing it simultaneously.
3) Potato Slice & Lemon Juice
Rub a slice of potato on the stretch marks and apply lemon juice over it. Let it air-dry and rinse the skin with lukewarm water later. The juice of raw potatoes has a high enough content of vitamins and minerals to speed up the restoration of new skin cells when applied topically. Lemon juice contains high doses of Vitamin C and is a natural bleaching agent, which helps stretch marks lighten quickly.
4) Shea Butter Or Cocoa Butter
Apply it two times a day on the affected area. When the skin is hydrated, it becomes more flexible and stretches more readily. As a result, stretch marks are less likely to form or deepen. These natural ingredients are both highly effective and beneficial as deep moisturisers, which will fade away the stretch marks.
5) Egg White
Whip two egg whites and apply a thick layer on the stretch marks. Let it dry completely. Rinse with cold water and apply a little oil to hydrate after rinsing. The amino acids contained in egg whites are often used to treat stretch marks. If used correctly, you can see results within two weeks.
6) Sugar Or Apricot Scrub
Rub the affected area with the scrub. As you remove dead and dying skin cells with an exfoliating treatment, new skin cells naturally form to take their place. As a result, the skin cells damaged by stretch marks are removed and replaced by new, smooth skin. Exfoliating scrubs or creams should only be used on alternate days to avoid further irritating your skin. Use a moisturiser after the scrub to keep the skin replenished.
7) Vitamin E Capsules
Vitamin E has powerful antioxidant properties that are highly beneficial and promote elasticity of skin. Vitamin E oil, available in the form of capsules or pure oils, is a great way to prevent the occurrence of stretch marks as well as to get rid of the existing ones.
