The Week That Was: Of Aunts That Reveal More Than Dresses
Hello dahlings, I will admit I’m back after a little break and, needless to say, I’ve missed you all. Even though it’s a little tough to pick up from where I left off, I’m sure it’s doable. I mean let’s face it—if we can manage to survive this horrible heat, a movie like Humshakals, and this all-consuming obsession with football—we can just about manage anything! So hope you enjoy recapping The Week That Was with me, just like the good old days. *Sincere Eyes* (Oh how I love being dramatic!)
We Are Eyeing This Sequel
I’m more than pleased to start the weekly round up with some awesome Bollywood news. Remember the epic film Aankhen from 2002? No, not the crazy Govinda one but the one about a bunch of blind men undertaking a daredevilish bank heist; which was Vipul Shah’s directorial debut. Well, that’s finally getting a sequel! I remember thinking it was an über cool film and had some class performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sushmita Sen, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal. The film’s producer Gaurang Doshi is all set to roll with the sequel, and this time Anees Bazmee will helm the project. I don’t know what to make of the fact that none of the actors will be repeated in the sequel, but the producer assures us the all-new cast will be just as exciting. Well I have a major hunch the sequel will be a crazy blockbuster, but then some might call that blind faith. (So pleased with myself for inserting topical pun.)
Dancing With The Hosts
If you’ve been watching Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on TV, you would have noticed by now that the anchors seem a little off. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of experience that they have in the anchoring space or is it the fact that we as an audience are too used to Kapil and Manish, the hosts of the previous season. They did, after all, have the country in splits with their a-laugh-a-minute antics, and we as viewers looked forward to that as much as we did the dances. So recently news broke that Drashti Dhami has been asked to leave the show and rumour was rife that Manish will take over as anchor in place of her (Yipppeeeeeeeee!). But now, more rumours have surfaced because even Ranvir Shorey has apparently been given the boot, and might be replaced by VJ Andy who was participating this season and incidentally was the first celeb to be evicted from the show. Boy, this anchor business is nothing short of a daily soap itself. In the end, all I want to know is…WILL MANISH BE BACK?
Stars Are Just Like Us
Why this little piece of news amused me no end is because I feel all of us can totally relate to it. We all have that blabbermouth aunt who cannot keep secrets of any kind. Well apparently, so does George Clooney! The Gravity star’s Aunt Staria said she thinks Brad Pitt will be the one standing next to her nephew at his long-awaited wedding. The actors have had a long time bromance, so it’s only fitting that George would have Brad be his best man on his big day. She also let slip that the much-awaited Clooney and Alamuddin wedding might take place in picturesque Italy, which George’s parents might be checking out right this minute. Now does this whole scenario have fairy tale written all over it or what? Besides, Clooney and Pitt standing next to each other looking dapper in suits…if that isn’t every girl’s dream, I don’t know what is. *Sigh*
Split Wide Open
Close on the heels of the sheer ruckus (all puns intended) caused by Rihanna, Kendall Jenner followed suit in a rather daring dress last week. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star decided to turn up to Canada’s 25th annual MuchMusic Video Awards for hosting duties armed with a whole lot of style, a smile on her face and absolutely no underwear. Err, or so it appeared anyway. Kendall, only 18 mind you all, was rocking a white embellished floor-length gown, which was split to above the thigh on both sides. The dress was cut so high it was more like a pelvic/belly button split dress.
“Why do one split when you can do TWO?!” Kendall tweeted ahead of Sunday night’s awards show.
Kendall, I cant even…
Hip Hop Hip Hop
Let’s face it; if I don’t make you listen to the newest Honey Singh song, someone else will. Or it will end up being that ‘thing’ playing all day in your head while you slowly but surely lose your mind trying to decipher where it came from. So issey kehte hai hip hop hip hop…start your Monday on this, ahem, positive note with Yo Yo Honey Singhaaa!
See you next week; till then stay happy, stay mad, and definitely stay InOnIt
